I went out and got myself a Blu-Ray player. I was kind of put off by the fact that I still have a tube tv, hey it still works great after five years so why get rid of it?, and I wasn't sure if the picture would conform to the specifications of my tv or if it would look like it was zoomed in but Best Buy had a Samsung, model BD-P1500, on sale for 200$, regular 300$, so I said "fuck it! If it doesn't conform to the specifications of my tv I at least still have a good Blu-Ray player that I only paid 200$ for and I will eventually have to get a new tv anyways." Turns out there's an option in the menu to select the aspect ratio of your tv so I set it to 16:9 letterbox and everything looks fine. I didn't pick up any movies though just in case it didn't show up properly but I already have Iron Man, which I bought because it was only 45$ and it came with the two mini-books, gift card and mini-bust, and the original Halloween which came with the recent, limited to 20,000 copies, box set. Since everything is working perfectly I might just go out tomorrow and pick up a few new Blu-Ray discs.
