How to export with 5.1 audio?

I've been using debugmode frameserver and I realized yesterday that it doesn't support 5.1 audio, and also, my MPEG encoder doesn't support 5.1 either. I've been trying to export the audio separately and then transcode it to ac3, but I keep getting errors. What do you guys use to get 5.1 on your mpgs?

Edit: I just figured out the problem. My goddamn DVD program doesn't support 5.1! Don't ask me why. This annoys the piss out of me.
