How many other people got into fan edits because...

....they can't remember a time before they were messing around with movies and music (in their head) to create their own vision.

... I'm just so damn frustrated by bloated theatrical releases

...they couldn't sit idly by while the theatrical cut of Creature From The Black Lagoon continued to plague the world with its shockingly poor pacing and indulgent swimming montages.

...they wanted to see what Memento would be like in chronological order? 😆

That's how I got into it at least.

Before I even heard of fanedits I was curious about Memento in chrono order, and yet now... I just don't seem to be that curious about it anymore. Not sure why.

because it's much better non-chronologically I'd guess, that's a large part of it's appeal, people just don't realise it at first. The Parallel Cut by INH5 was awesome as well.

... they wanted to watch the original Star Wars.
Probably most people. To be fair, a Revisited plug on youtube was how I heard of fanedits, but it was the idea for my own that got me into them generally and prompted me to join the community.

they stumbled upon the Never Say McClory Again website one summer while laid up with Lyme Disease and became incredibly fascinated with the idea of editing movies and different versions. (A little specific, but that's true for at least one person I know)

Wow, Creature from the Black Lagoon was the one that did it for you, eh? I remember that's the reason why Guillermo Del Toro made The Shape Of Water, because when he saw the original film (CFTBL) he always thought the woman was supposed to be with the creature and felt ripped off be how it actually ended. You could say Shape Of Water is his fan edit. :D

... They prefer, for strictly artistic reasons of course, their naughty adult short films without the, er, sub-torso footage of a certain category of stunt performer?

I kid, I kid! They were drawn to fan editing to fix The Mummy Returns. :p
