How can i get started making a Fanedit? And what is Demuxing?

Are there any freeware edit tools that i can use for example a Superman III edit?

And what about superman style credits in space?

Also i wolud like to edit Casino Royale (1954) by adding the gun barrel sequence, credits, EON Bond music, and a clearer picture, but it's on VHS.

there are some great guides already written in here. Just look around and you will fidn all teh basics you need.
There are lots of freeware tools to make a fanedit possible, but one thign for sure: the best of tools do cost money.
Perhaps you should start with basic editing before you go to superman style credits. Pick somehting easy to get used to the tools.

Thanx man.

read a bunch of the tutorials here in the "how to..." section.... a lot of them list tools that they use and offer alternative ones... and often they say whether they are freeware or not. i'm certainly not an expert on them, but those guys are....

Thanx. yeah im reading the stuff on here but i'm getting sorta confused with the language.

Correct me if i'm wrong but is demuxing like changing the video and audio files into files that can be edited?

demuxing (demultiplexing) means to seperate the audio and video files.
In a vob file they are one, then they get seperated to ac3 and m2v files.

Thank you, again.

the opposite would be muxing (multipelxing), which combines audio and video again (usually by making an ac3 file and an m2v file to an mpg file)

Alright got that down. Now i was reading your topic on freeware tools and

Are both DVD Fab decryptor and Ripit4me DVD rippers?

well, if you pick ripit4me you also need dvd decrypter.
And I suggest you take this solution, because is about rips any DVD there is (even Silent Hill)

Sweet! Alright i'll just download both then.

next tool you might need then (because it is free and very useful) is PGCDemux. It can rip the DVD completely apart into its contents (movies, menus)

Wow that's pretty cool for something that's free.

well, yeah, but getting a free good editor is where it becomes difficult.
You can make simple edits (without transitions with lots of free tools a.k.a. Cuttermaran, Virtualdub-mpeg2, or even microsoft movie maker), BUT when you wan tthe real deal, you need something a bit more powerful (like womble mpeg DVD). And then you will have to pay.
DVD authoring is also not free, if you want the real deal.

What about TMPGenc? Is it an editor?

It has a basic editing function. You can cut scenes, delete parts and add them together. Won't be sufficient for a decent fanedit though.

Does it have transitions unlike the other tools you mentioned?
