A television series based on the character of Hannibal Lecter is reportedly in development thanks to French studio Gaumont.
"Hannibal" is a one-hour drama written by Bryan Fuller ("Pushing Daisies," "Dead Like Me") that essentially serves as a prequel to the Hannibal Lecter films.
Expanding upon the early events alluded to in Thomas Harris' novel "Red Dragon", the story will be set in Lecter's early days and the time he went head-to-head with FBI agent Will Graham (Manhunter, Red Dragon).
Martha De Laurentiis ("Hannibal Rising," "Red Dragon") will produce the show.
Casting has yet to begin.

What do you guys think about it (especially you, boon)?
It's neither good nor bad news to me. I like everything what is connected to dr. Lecter's world but after some weak sequels and bad direction of the Hannibal's character I'm not so sure. And Hopkins probably won't return (he has a retirement from this role; in addition heâs too old now). But it seems it will be more psychological show.
We will see...
