One thing I don't see much of in the tech forums is Vegas tutorial videos. Here are some great videos by "Little Rich".

(NOTE: Videos are for Pro 10, not sure what you can or can't do with Studio or Platinum, but if you can keyframe you can do a lot.)

You may look at some of these and say "Whatever, I don't think I'll ever need to add a demon face to anybody in a video. BUT, the way some of these techniques are done will teach you so much about using Vegas.

1) Basics

SOUND EDITING

As he notes, the audio volume envelope is very helpful for muting background music mixed in with dialogue.

"RIPPLE" EDITING

(I don't do this personally as I take a weird pleasure in moving clips myself.)

^^^ THIS. I have been able to do a lot of cool things with Vegas, and I often learned them from watching tutorials that weren't really intended for the effect I was attempting.

i've actually used this guy's tutorials a lot for reference. (the masking one in particular. helped a lot for my TMNT edit.)
and it helps that i really enjoy the way the guy talks.
he's funny without thinking he's funny and distracting from the information.

At some point I wanted to do an organizational overhaul of Tech section actually. There's too many stickied threads already.
 
i just watched a couple of those you posted before i take off from work here.
man i'd almost forgotten how much i enjoy that guy. i need to snag his videos for off-line viewing.
if he ever gets around to doing Premier tutorials i will probably jizz in my pants.

may the Force be with you. I've given the tech section(s) overhauls a bunch of times. With changing technology and needs its always an interesting task. keep me posted though, willing to help with an overhaul.
 
I thought about sticking this last night, then came to the same conclusion as Neg. But if it helps encourage him, so be it. :p
