Why the hell not, eh?

So for starters, anyone check this out yet?

It tells 4 stories apparently centred around the first film and leading into the second. I picked up a copy today. I'm going to read it tonight and was wondering if anyone read it and what they thought...

It's funny how the industry has changed. Comics are becoming more excepted in the film industry and now the film industry is using the format to tell new stories. There is a story in Wizard this month that Richard Donner is doing a sequel to Goonies in comics form, and most people know about the new season of Buffy coming from Dark Horse and being in cannon with the show. As a comics fan I think it's great.

I think partially there is an entire generation of 30-40 somethings who grew up on comics and video games that are now in positions of power - economically and creatively.

Plus, there is an entire generation of 60 year olds who greenlight comic book related projects because Spider-Man was successful, but that's another story.

The generations who grew up with comics now have much more money and the companies are trying to figure out how to get that much more out of people. Unfortunately i don't really comics nearly as much as i used to. But i can say one thing if they ever made a movie out of the story line where Hal Jordan (green lantern) lost everything/went nuts and killed the rest of the green lantern corps. I would pay to see that in a theater in a heartbeat.

this is already one of the greatest threads around here! I spend plenty of money on comics years back. I love them still but you know how it is when the money is short... but anyway here is one of the coolest comic books ever seen on planet earth.

watch the silver signature of the author himself!

RJ once posted a link to information about a tv show of this which is in the making!

If you like dark comics Johnny the Homicidal maniac is pretty good. It definately does get very screwed up at points though.

I'll let you know later, Heinrich, but apparently Ennis really influenced the 28 Days Graphic Novel.

I loved the Ennis/Dillon run on The Punisher. They made Frank Castle interesting again, contemporizing him from the post-80's Reagan "war on everything" era that he was born from.

I think what they did with the Punisher stands side-by-side with Bendis' Daredevil as two of the crowing achievements in modern comic book history.

The show is supposed to be starting sometime next year on HBO. It's supposed to be a 1 to 1 ratio of issues to episodes. Here's to hoping cause that comic rocked.

I just finished an edit of CONSTANTINE, the movie made out of HELLBLAZER. Before I started I checked out the comic and was I surprised. They might as well have called it JOHN caused the comic and the movie had very little in common. I would have left the setting back in London, cast one of the lads from LOCK, STOCK AND 2 SMOKING BARRELS, like Nick Moran, and had Guy Rirtchie direct as well.
My next project might be GHOST DOG, so I'm going to research it as well.

by all means, you should. From what I can say right now, killbillme (also known as JORGE) is one of our best faneditors and I am starting to become a true fan. :)

(this is not meant to flatter you, kbm, just my opinion)

Do you know anything about GHOST DOG? I just finished watching it and its pretty thin. I would probably tighten it to maybe half the lenght. Al ot of walking and driving shots... which I loath. Good performances but with the semi comic Jarmusch touch.

What project is this?

I wonder if anyone could make an edit of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen to more resemble the comics? ;)

Preacher. It's being developed by the guy who directed Daredevil and Ghost Rider.
