Anyone else watching this? I have to admit I read the first book over 30 years ago and, like a lot of hard sci fi, found it had interesting ideas to explore but was ultimately not engaging for me. But I realized while watching the show I don’t remember much of the book.
I found the show to be a bit exposition heavy at first, and a bit confusing. But the ideas are compelling and the performances breathe life into a story (that at least as I remember) was rather inert. There are aspects I’m concerned about that I won’t go into for fear of spoilers. But overall, I’m encouraged by the first two episodes. It holds to its hard sci fi roots while also seeming to give it a more grounded and emotional telling.
