Hi guys,

I'm normally to be found on history sites (I administer one), but am also a keen -if fussy- film fan, which drew me here!

I'm really intrigued by the thought of watching different and expertly done versions of my favourite films (Gladiator, Alien, Casino, From Hell amongst many) which I own on dvd, and managed to already have watched one of the Alien edits, which I enjoyed.

I assume that many downloads are available only to members who have a relatively high post count, so I hope to post more soon.

Cheers

fanedit dot info

you may be pleasantly surprised, also hope you like the extended edition of From Hell, it is one of my favourite edits I made.

Maybe From Hell is not availble anymore. Not 100% sure though.
I'll check that this evening, but I think it's offline, nomarch.

Not at all. (At least, not unless they've changed it and no one told me) Everything is freely available to all. :)

And welcome to FE!

As nOmArch and UA have stated, you don't need to register to download fanedits. Fanedits are and will be forever free on info so long as the files are available. Never let anyone charge you for a fanedit either.

The reason to register here is to take advantage of the forums as well as be able to rate and review fanedits, something editors really appreciate.

Welcome to the site, and enjoy your stay.

the AVI is still available, I host that myself.

Thanks for the welcome, guys.

I haven't been able to find the fanedits, but was led from page to page and only found the cover artwork for download?

Cheers ;-)

Hey Jonas,

info is divided into a few sections; Truefanedits, Extended Editions, Star Wars and Unapproved. You'll find links for each underneath the header of the site.

From Hell is an Extended Edition

I must apologize however as I am not familiar with the Gladiator edit. The listings on info go by the name of the edit itself rather than the original title, which admittedly can at times make it a challenge to locate a fanedit.

^^ Thunderclap posted they are all available at info and will be forever free.

Welcome to the community. Enjoy! :)

Thanks, but I couldn't find the 'Gladiator' or 'From Hell' downloads on any of the pages there?

From Hell:
search the Extended Edition page
Find the title,
click on AVI,
extract the .rar
put the .dlc in Jdwonloader
download,
watch.

:)

Aaaah, thanks TMBTM

I missed From Hell before (doh) and may have done the same with Gladiator, which seems to be absent using word searches for Gladiator or Maximus?

Thanks for the 'how to play' format instructions though!

If the Maximus edit you're referring to is by tehwallaby, I believe it was not granted approval...and never resubmitted.

Oh, thanks, but I searched for it in the forums and found mention of two different titles? Maybe both were unapproved?

Shame, I've always thought of trying to edit Gladiator myself, but in a very amateurish way with Nero! Yeah, I know. :-D

While I have never used Nero myself, I have seen one very good edit that was done entirely with Nero, so who knows, you might surprise yourself!

Yay! I will try then (*gulp!*)

It will be, for me, alot of cutting and saving, then re-ordering and pasting!...And praying!

If it is an older version of Nero, you might want to consider upgrading first. One of the trickier parts is figuring out the various file formats to use, ripping, and re-encoding. It is highly advisable that you figure out this workflow from beginning to end with a small test edit file before beginning on a full movie-length project, the objective of course being to maintain project quality throughout. There are many threads here and other forums that can help answer the many technical questions you will have.

This is some of the best possible advise to a new editor. Few things are more frustrating than to complete an entire edit only to then realize your workflow was so flawed that it cannot be released, and worse, that you have to start from scratch, so running through the process beginning to end on a small length of clip will save your sanity later.

Good luck!
