Hey guys,

Mark Kermode a fantastic (sometimes a bit eccentric) film critic has referenced fanedits in his newest blog-entry:

With the Blu Ray release of Prometheus Mark Kermode went back to the reception of the movie and how it might have changed. In the video he runs down comments from his blog and a lot of users keep mentioning the deleted scenes of Prometheus. The critic concludes by wondering when we will see a director's cut of Prometheus or if we will get a fanedit - he references The Phantom Edit at 5:10

I stopped taking Mark Kermode seriously when he started inventing reasons not to like remakes rather than just admit that he hated them strictly because they are remakes. Like in his Last House On The Left remake review wherein he basically said "the fact that it's a better movie than the original film in almost every aspect makes it a worse film."

he doesn't really invent rules. his rule is: the remake has to bring something new to the table. if it is just ok for people who have not seen the original then why should they watch the remake and not the original which is a pretty solid argument imo

one needs to consider that kermode is really fighting for bringing non-english films to his audience so he wants to remind us to go out and check out the originals rather than the remakes. and with horror remakes it is just way too personal for him to go light on them
