Fan Edit Experiments

I have two ideas to put forth here. They will seem unorthodox but they came to mind not too long ago. They would also provide challenges, probably even to the best Fan Editors.

Firstly, I'm sure many have seen trailers that have been edited in a way to suggest that the film is actually of a different genre than it was originally. For example taking a family film like Mary Poppins and making it seem like a horror film. I am suggesting this approach for a full movie.

Secondly, one of the main reasons a fan edit is done is to improve things. How about attempting to edit a good film in a bad way? If it's possible to do the former, is it possible to do the latter?

I'm not sure if these are ideas that have been brought up before but I thought it was worth posting about them in case it inspires someone to do the same or something similar. I was trying to think outside the box a little.

Of course it would be possible to edit a good film badly...but what would be the point of that?

changing the music, adding in a few colour filters maybe some different titles is very easy to do and the only reason it works IS because they're trailers. to do something like that to an entire movie would be just sheer tomfoolery.

im not even going to mention your second idea. :)

lol! this happens more often than you think, albeit, not on purpose.

oh oh! I guess I better not tell you what I'm doing to 2001 and what I've already done to PREDATOR II.

Tell us, Jorge, or somebody is going to lock you in a room with Voodl, a blunt machete and a tape recorder.

dont forget the family size tub of banana yoghurt!

Ooooh, 2001. Are you cutting down to 30 minutes, where the entire plot will be there but it won't move as a glacial speed?

Voodl is giving me funny looks.

Help.

I've already suggested this on a couple of films... but never one soo.... cheery. *shiver*

That said, taking a movie like Transformers... removing all the one liners and jokes, garbling the robot dialogue, and adding a new score could easily turn it from action to horror. It's easier to pull off with action flicks than kids films or comedies though.
