They're doing a theme next month:
"
OCTOBER APPROACHES.

Which means that Faked From the Dead, with your covers of 80s (or older or younger) horror films, is also approaching. Start making them and we’ll run them through the month of October.
1. Post them to Tumblr, tagged “Fake Criterions” or “Faked From the Dead”
-or-
2. Email them to fakecriterions[at]gmail.com"

Would be cool to see some of our talented cover artists submit some stuff!

I would do anything and everything to get this released by Criterion.

Well technically every winner was a nominee. :p But seriously, you wouldn't need fake Criterion covers for every single nominee because some of them were officially released by the Criterion Collection.

Ok it was just a suggestion. And i know they were all nominated.
I just meant the winners and those that didnt win.
Also the idea of "fake" covers would be to create your own cover.:-D

Seriously, alien and blade runner are not part of criterion?

For Alien to be available through the Criterion Collection 20th Century Fox would have to give up the rights. Being that it's part of a franchise I don't think they're about to do that. Not to mention that Alien is to 20th Century Fox like Halloween is to Anchor Bay. They continuously re-release it every few years or so. Hell, they released the Blu-Ray box set 2 years ago and just this Tuesday they released a 35th Anniversary Edition of Alien on Blu-Ray.
