Bond 25: No Time To Die

Really hope this movie ends Daniel Craig's run on a good note, unlike the mess that was Spectre.

I hope they leave the attempts at film-to-film story continuity when he leaves to (which is the cause of many of the problems in Spectre).  I say go back to stand-alone Bond adventures and the old take-it-or-leave attitude to series continuity :D .

I hope the Lashana Lynch character is going to be a sidekick for Bond. I like those rare Bond films ('You Only Live Twice', 'The Spy Who Loved Me', 'Tomorrow Never Dies') when it feels like he has another "buddy cop" agent to fight along side, instead of just being alone as usual.  There can't be any romance with her because of continuity with the other films being carried over.

I like continuity-driven stories, when well done, but the Craig ones were pretty much hit with bad planning and bad luck behind the scenes, with Quantum of Solace and Spectre getting the worst of it.

It'll have to depend on how Lashana is written and how well she bounces off of Daniel.

I, too, am growing tired of the so-called cinematic universe. More often than not, it results in more problems than it’s worth. Even the Star Wars OT had to contort itself to make the story work.

It felt to me more like they were trying for Shia Lebouf's role in the last Indiana Jones film.  Like, here's a younger take on the same character (Bond in this case) that is now set up to be the heir apparent if this goes well, allowing the old favorite to retire in peace.  Didn't work that well for Crystal Skull...

David Walliams returns for another Bond Experience interview:

A whole hour of two bond superfans gushing about how great Bond films are.  Lovely stuff! :)

I really fancy like re-watching a Bond movie after that.

I personally like the story driven approach. I never have cared for Bond, but to see his linked progression and the accompanying character interactions make it more interesting to me. I preferred the stories of Skyfall and Spectre more than I did for Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. For me the first two were about a showboating womanizing spy while the second two were about an agent's inner demons and system wide deceptions. Perhaps that's why I liked Golden Eye but not the other PB Bond films? I'm looking forward to see how Craig's Bond leaves the series and how the story wraps up.

I'm a huge Bond fan and I'm not looking forward to this at all. The direction they've taken the series with Craig is disappointing to me. I think I blame superhero/comic book fanatics for forcing this dreadful continuity obsession into every franchise, but it is so much worse for Bond because the reason the cinematic character has survived for nearly 60 years is because you didn't have to memorize decades of incoherent continuity expanded universe crap to comprehend what was happening. After ripping off Austin Powers Goldmember in Spectre, they're making a direct sequel to that nonsense almost 7 years later. Who even cares any more and, more importantly, who in a general audience would even remember? Just make a solid standalone adventure. That doesn't mean it can't be serious or character driven. Skyfall was and that film is standalone while being a million times less goofy and ridiculous than Spectre and far more compelling than Quantum. Another thing that worries me is that they're clearly trying to take the franchise into a Super Friends, Justice League direction where Bond has a team of friends to help with everything, and I find that obnoxious too.

I'll give No Time to Die a chance, but the fact that it's not doing the smart thing and ignoring all the Spectre stuff is a very bad sign, not to mention all the production issues.

I wish this was really the official poster...

It's called 'No Time to Die '83' by a London based artist called Mark Murphy (aka ThunderSpyArt). I'm seriously tempted to order the A3 version: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/802...etro-painted-james?ref=shop_home_feat_2&frs=1

Also a short action clip from the film (with no obvious spoilers) has been released:

It looks good.

Reminds me of the days when Bond posters used to be something to get genuinely excited about. For me there hasn't been a really good official Bond poster since The Living Daylights - although Casino Royale was pretty moody.
