Wow, nice to see the love! Thanks to everyone who has enjoyed them.
This is interesting because in actuality, none of my edits hit 2 hours and TMBTM often noted that this was the one aspect of my edits that he liked the least, that they
weren't 2 hours. My Episode I and II both clock in at 1:36 (including credits). My Episode 3 is the longest of my trilogy clocking in at 1:52. In terms of a watchable final product, Episode 3 is probably the one I'm most proud of
.
A fun project might be to get a synopsis from each faneditor who has a full PT set which describes their overall approach/philosphy/highlights which can inform people looking for PT Trilogies, allowing them to see what sets best remedy the issues they have with the PT, or work to achieve the same things they wish they could see in a PT (given the source we have to work with
) Also it could also help delineate which edits are more-or-less able to be interchanged and which series are really more stand-alone (Q2's for instance really work best together and might not make good for mixing and matching with other PT edits as they would create some continuity inconsistencies).
We played with the idea (okay it was pretty much just me) of adding a section to IFDB for Series pages (Star Wars trilogies, Matrix Trilogies, Transformer sets, etc..) which would summarize them and possibly allow rating based on the entire set of edits, but by the time we finished IFDB I was just too worn out and never got back to it. Maybe it would be a good idea to try and revive!
Ultimately the PT is an amazing set of films in that from that same 600 minutes or so of footage, so many editors have been able to sculpt their own specific vision of how best to make something watchable out of something we all so desperately wanted to be amazing, but fell so dramatically short.
