Audio editing program

Hi,

I'm looking for a program simply to add audio to a project, preferably cheap or free. Reason being is that I've been doing a video project with avs4you, which I purchased, and while the video is essentially done, the program doesn't allow 6 channels in their audio mix line, so I can't do 5.1 as the center (vocal) channel is missing. I've been in contact with them and they're usually good at responding, but I haven't heard back about my most recent contact.

I also recently discovered that my computer came preloaded with Corel Videostudio pro X3, which I figured I would use to add the audio. However, despite it saying online the you can export in 5.1, it doesn't give me that option. Unfortunately, that's an older version, so the company doesn't provide support for it anymore.

So, what I'm looking for is a cheap or free program just to add the audio. I'm not trying to be stingy; if I needed a program to do the complete project, I would have no problem paying more, but it's almost already done.

Thanks for any advice!

Jason

Audacity is free and well regarded, but you would probably be better off investing in a version of Sony Vegas Movie Studio. The more recent versions can handle 5.1, and they are very cheap. Here's an example: it's not the latest, but it will almost certainly meet your requirements.

Thanks.

I actually already have Audacity, but that only helps on the audio side of things, not applying it to video.

Avs4you just got back to me today, so I'll get back to them and if I still don't get a resolution from them, I'll try that other one.

Thanks again!

Vegas Studio 11 is the exact program I use. Amazing capabilities for such a low price.

I also use Sony Vegas and agree it's abilities are fantastic. I had a head start with it though because I was already using Sony Acid Music Studio for music remixing and the layout is very similar.
