ANDREAS presents: STAR WARS - Episode I - The Ancient Lore [TPM Remade]

:D

Does your ROTS plan have Padme live?
To be honest, I have no idea. I haven't planned that far ahead. TAL and AotC is taking up so much of my fanediting time that EP III just seem bizarre to even do at the moment.

But then again - and thinking on my feet here, the logical thing for me to do would be to erase those scenes after Mustafar. After Padme leaves the planet in a coma with Obi-Wan, we should never see her again. Following Anakin's - and sort of Obi-Wan's, perspectives I don't see it necessary to show what happened to Padme, as the story resolves itself in EP 4 to 6.

In my ideal version of an EP III, it would end with a very emotional Vader looking over the creation of a very bare design of the Death Star and Obi-Wan landing on Tatooine thinking about his old Padawan whilst looking at the twin suns, with or without a baby unbeknownst to the audience at this particular time.

(Spoilers for The Last Jedi)

Like how Rey and Ren look at each other through their Force Bond?

Yes, exactly, but maybe a little less obvious than that. More like Vader and Luke's connection at the end of EP V.

It makes no sense for Padme to live. It fixes one plot hole, and creates another. Why would she abandon Luke and keep Leia?
What if she didn't know there were two?

In spirit with the ending of EP I (in which we leave the villains above Geonosis, which can be seen here), I had to start work on how to organically start EP II.

Originally, EP II was going to start with a pandown to Tatooine, revealing what is a series of flashbacks and past events from EP I setting up the tone of the movie before we transition into the Royal Ship entering the Coruscant atmosphere. However, I feel that with my added importance (and inclusion) to Dooku, The Trade Federation and other things, the movie should start where it left of.

So ten years has passed, and the idea is that now The Trade Federation and Count Dooku along with other separtists leaders are testing weapons, prototypes, and just in general planning and scheming.

The visual effects are not done, but the video will give away what I'm going for. I hope you enjoy.

Except from frame overlapping which im sure you’re aware of, this is looking very terrific.

The concept looks great, I can't wait to see what it looks like finished!

Nice job! This may be the real PT:Revisited now that Adywan isn't doing them.

You kind, kind sons of bitches! You keep this up I might have to actually finish this edit (that was a joke, of course I will). I'm happy to hear that what was presented to you work, as that will help shape the end of this and the beginning of the next.

As for The Ancient Lore in and out of itself, all the narrative hard parts are DONE! Things are finally working out, and the main things left to do are rotoscoping, sound effects and color grading (tweaking). This means I'm about 80% finished I guess, and with some math from when I first started this - that means I might have this ready by the end of the summer or autumn.

But that doesn't calculate all the things that will most likely screw up during rendering - because there ALWAYS is something. Frame overlap, or a color grade that didn't fit as thought - or a porn video overlapping during the rendering (wait, what?). Who knows!

Does anyone even remotely know what more could be done to help TPM/TAL by this point? Are there any suggestions left? Ideas? I hardly think I will revisit this again, at least not from a narrative standpoint, so it feels like now or never.

Also, I really, really, really want to show some video previews, but then again; I think I've showed you guys so much already that if I show more, the surprises might fall short. I think I won't release anything of great importance anymore up until release, unless - of course - I really feel like I need feedback on something, or something is really, really requested. I don't know. I like to keep surprises. It makes the viewing experience more entertaining. More fresh.

I will however pick two-three people before a release to preview the full product, to be able to fix things that might have been overlooked or could need some tweaking. Or maybe even simply doesn't work! >:O But don't you dare say that, because by that point I won't give a shit! I will be a firm believer!

All right, the momentum is there, @Andreas!  Do it!
Cheers, mate! I'll do it! I'LL DO IT!

I kindly appreciate this.

I've been traveling for four weeks now - came home, with a giant jetlag, literally three hours ago. Haven't slept for two full days. So I won't be writing much as of right now regarding the edit, except that it is a massive project that has been a very enjoyable experience and that I am keen to share with you guys.

I have no idea when it will be released, because the rotoscoping is a very boring and time consuming part. And that is the only major part left to fill. Everything else is nitpicks and finishes.

Awesome!  Welcome… back, I guess?   :p  I can’t wait for what’s to come!

Looking forward to this. I can't imagine how painful the rotoscoping process is, but I'm sure it'll be all worth it in the end :D

A compliment I'll take with me as I continue work on this endevaour! Thank you! And I really think and do hope so!

Is rotoscoping effects work or something else?
Kind of. It's when you chose a certain area on the existing footage to tweak and/or remove/replace, frame by frame - which is why it is so time consuming.

[UPDATES - FEEDBACK TIME]
Preview #1 - The Sith! have returned?
The idea:
- The Sith potentially having returned is now supposed to be highly dramatic, like a gut punch you refuse to believe. Therefore, the Jedi now react accordingly.
- Mace Windu is supposed to react very negatively to this "boy" that is strong in the force, to set up Windu's dislike for Anakin further on in the trilogy. There is little trust here, and I think this comes across accordingly.
- Set up a more menacing tone that is now developing towards the end of the second act, before the Trade Federation Ship and the ending battle on Naboo. The presence of the Sith is being felt, by Jedi and audience alike.

Preview #2 - We need help! The Republic in denial.
The idea:
- To set the matching tone of the beginning, in which Naboo is being overrun by the Federation, and how they are now in desperate need of help.
- To show how helpless Naboo really are, how ignorant the Republic is and how desperate the Queen of Naboo is for help.
- To develop the movie into a darker place towards its final act, a tone of darkness and helplessness.
- To bridge some more scenes from the Maul fanfilm with the original content of TPM/TAL, to show the increasing darkness taking place.

NOTE THIS: In a previous scene, not released here, Sidious has ordered Maul to go to Naboo after his failure in killing Qui-Gon and the Queen, and kill whatever Jedi that are there.

Preview #3 - Yoda sensing the growing darkness.
The Idea:
- Subtly transition from Yoda's speech about Anakin's potential path towards the darker side, to Maul's dark side, as to subtly show what that would mean.
- Show Yoda seeing and feeling Maul's anger and despair, starting to believe the Sith are back.
- Show Yoda worried, as to also worry the audience. Something is not right, and we have a battle ahead.
- Show Maul being a little emotional and slightly reluctant, as to make it clear to the audience he is just a manipulated pupil of a much darker master. Might even help making Maul's death a little sad, as if wishing for his redemption or maybe even looking for it.

I hope you enjoy! Please feedback the shit out of it, all good's and negative's.
