Hello! I'm new to all this... I just stumbled across it today. So, can I ask, er, how does one actually see this edit? It sounds great!

I think the forthcoming Alien Awakening, will see David take a ship full of eggs and crash it onto the planet in Alien to lure Weyland, sacrificing himself for the greater “good” of his children!!!

See the latest revues as to why that makes complete sense!

What do you think?

I dont think new movie is supposed to be a sequel for Covenant (I'd like to see one though).

Alien Awakening is the title of the originally planned sequel to Alien Covenant. But that's been in production stasis for a long time and presumed dead, based on how Covenant performed. Unless some new news has surfaced recently, Scott's vision is not being actively pursued and a TV series is supposedly in the works instead. I can't remember the premise, but I don't think it has anything to do with Prometheus/Covenant.

…nevertheless, acknowledging all you state, Disney own Fox, and I can’t see them not taking another bite of the cinematic cherry…maybe they’ll resurrect Blokamp’s vision…that would be cool!

They're doing new alien film too, directed by Fede Alvarez and the latest (this month) news is that Cailee Spaeny is in talks for lead role (not sure if this will be theatrical of for Hulu like last Predator), but it has nothing to do with Prometheus/Covenant or Blomkamp's vision (which I'd prefer to never see light of day).

Hi all

Well its been 6 years since I've released an edit (though many have been made), but here we go.

A couple of years back I made two edits of Alien Covenant.

The Extended version restores a true 3 act structure by adding in the material where the crew train and are tested for their emotional responses. This section ran near 20 minutes. I tightened it up and added in audio and music from Jerry Goldsmith to give it an original ALIEN feel. I also added back many other deleted portions but again, tightened them up and added ambience and music where needed. The rest of the film has a variety of tweaks to improve character, dialogue, delivery and continuity. There is a fair amount of tweaks towards the end as well to keep things both logical and tense, plus a new coda derived from supplemental publicity material publicly available. Additional material from 2010: The Year we make Contact was used to create establishing shots for the newly created first act. Additional caption work to match the font and style of the original movie was also made. This runs 154 min. EPIC

The Alien V version takes the above, and tightens it all up to run 132 min. Why? I wanted to prove that the 3 act structure could have been preserved in a near 2 hr run time. I hated Alien Covenant when it first came out because you could feel that the first act was missing. Why have James Franco in it for 2 scenes to just rub him out? That is now fixed. And this version PROVES that the extra 30 minutes COULD have been kept if the rest of the movie was tightened up.

Job done....

I hope that these two edits redeem this flawed entry to the francise which I hope is NOW a worthy prequel to A L I E N .
These both at the surface appear very attractive and anxious I am to see.
