Main Project Intentions & Info:
This project aims to bring stronger continuity, tighter editing & improved pacing to 6 of the films in the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise.
Opening credits are removed & a new "A (directors name) Film" credit has been added to the beginning of each film.
New title cards bring visual continuity to the series. Each film's title card also closes the film, appearing before the end credits.
A date has been added after the opening dream scene of each film to give a sense of place in time.
Each film now opens with the classic NoES music cue, Prologue playing over the production logos & ends with a short post-credits scene.

I've made extensive alterations to each film in order to create my dream versions.
Check the full changelist for each film below.

NEW!- Introducing Version 2.0:
This is a major update for all 6 films, the documentary, the soundtrack & the artwork.
My editing skills have come a long way since I first released this series.
I always knew I'd return to update this project. So, here we are & here it is.
I've made additional alterations to each film & made many fixes to my original changes.

This update brings this entire project up to my current standards with improved audio/video & much more extensive editing.
This thread has been updated with all the current info, but for a layout of the 2.0 updates, changes & tech specs, check out this post.

Version 2.0 absolutely decimates 1.0 in every way- Video, Audio & Editing.
I really hope that everyone who has enjoyed my work will update.
To check your version, look for a V 2.0 during my opening production logo.

ANoES
, FR, DW, TDM & NN are sourced from the 2013 Warner Bros. bluray set.
FvJ is sourced from the 2020 Shout! Factory Friday the 13th bluray boxset.
I've enhanced some of the score in the films using the remastered soundtracks from the 2015 Varèse Sarabande NoES CD boxset.

Films Excluded:
I won't be using The Dream Child, Freddy's Dead or the 2010 Remake.
I just don't care for these three films & I have no interest in doing anything with them.

The Changes:
Timeline-

The timeline has been altered to give Nancy a reasonable amount of time to have finished high school & gone on to study psychology between ANoES & DW.
The year FR takes place in has been moved back so that it fits into the chronology. TDM's year has been moved forward to match the new timeline.
NN begins on the films original release date. FvJ has been moved back by a year to set the film on a real Friday the 13th.
The years are- ANoES-1982 FR-1983 DW-1988 TDM-1989 NN-1994 FvJ-2002
On-screen dates have been added to each film to show their place in time.

The Changelists-
The changes are listed in chronological order, scene-by-scene.
If you want to know the hows or whys about anything, feel free to ask. I'd love to talk all about it!

Peroration:
A Nightmare on Elm Street
was the first modern horror film I ever saw. I was very young, but my older brother & his friend were watching it's premier on HBO.
They weren't really into horror movies, but ANoES was the big thing that summer. They knew I was into monster movies, so they let me watch.
I was too young to really follow the story & I had to keep running out of the room because I was too scared. My brother would tell me when it was safe to come back in. This was the event that really hooked me on horror. It was so fun!
I rented these on VHS throughout my teenage years in the 1990's, got the big DVD boxset in my early 20's & now the little bluray set. (we need an update!)
Documentaries, books, commentaries, interviews, articles. I've slashed through it all.

All these years after my first encounter, A Nightmare on Elm Street continues to be one of my favorite movies & my absolute favorite horror concept.
This series is packed full of imaginative moments & iconic characters. Perfect for screaming, laughing & cheering along with. I hope these edits will enhance the experience for you.
Whether you're an experienced sleepwalker or a just day dreamer, I hope you have fun on Elm Street!

PM me for the link!

Niceness! We've gone a while without a NOES edit. I had intended to take a look at Part 3 to see if I could get the tone closer to the original film (Part 3 was where "funny Freddy" really started, and I much prefer darker Freddy from the first two) but this series-wide approach sounds great!

After this there is the Wrong Turn franchise, the Child's Play franchise, the Puppet Master franchise, the Leprechaun franchise, then you could just go completely Blumhouse...

The Dream Warriors Changelist-
...
About Some Changes...
Possible Controversial Changes-
I've removed the Nun telling Neil the story of Amanda Kruger being locked in with the inmates & raped.
This backstory is something that some fans like, but I hate the idea that how you're conceived effects who you are & besides, this backstory has nothing to do with the rest of my series. I got no time for that.
Thank you for that, this always made me uncomfortable, like they were trying too hard to give him a shocking backstory. I can imagine it'd be much better without this aspect.

I've decided not to wait until next month to drop Vol.2. I've got the films finished & I'm already working on the next project, so might as well keep this train rolling!
Volume Two will be available Sunday, April 17th!

if you had to pick, which is your favorite from your NOES edits? Likewise with your Friday the 13th edits. Life is hectic but I should be able to watch one or two in the next few weeks and thought it would be smart to get the editor’s opinion.

Hooof.... that's tough. Especially for NoES.
I'll respond to F13 in my F13 thread.
The original Nightmare is almost one of my top movies of all time, but I really hate the ending. I've fixed this in my edit, making it absolutely one of my favorite films of all time.
But, then there's my edit of The Dream Master, which also fixes the awful original ending by putting more focus on story related beats & altering the climax to reflect this. (pun. anybody catch it?) My edit is enough to turn a film I've always been lukewarm on, into a film I love.
And THEN there's my edit of Freddy's Revenge. A film I've always had heavy attachment to. My edit slims it right down to it's core, creating a very tight story with a very strong narrative.

So, I guess pick which one sounds the most interesting to you, or the film you like the most.

I had so much fun working on this series, I'm sad to be moving on.
Still many movies I hope to have finished by Halloween, though!

What's your favorite movie from the NoES [raymix] Series?

I personally think the original Dream Warriors logo is one of the ugliest ever.
