Top job and a quality companion to The Shadow Strikes! Cannot stress how enjoyable this was. The audio mix was clear and nicely detailed. Video edits were well planned, tightening the pace and reducing Treat Williams acting deficiencies.i Did have a quibble with the visuals at the beginning. The jungle scenes were all too soft, lacking the contrast one would expect from traditional Black n White film stock. Cannot be faulted, however, as Bionic Bob made the most of resources. The 1996 adaption of The Phantom was always a PG movie. Sex and violence very toned down. Billy Zane was comfortable as The Ghost Who Walks, though he was awfully polite. In addition, how on earth he preferred whitebread Kristy Swanson over smoldering Catherine Zeta Jones defied comprehension. The film is fun, breezy and light, not as dark as many actual serials from the 30s. Good popcorn flick - safe for family viewing - and definitely recommended over the original.
