I'm in the middle of editing a Scarface fan film, and I was wondering if there was anyway to rip the audio from the intro with out Fidel Castro talking?

You could try using DVD Audio Extractor to split the 5.1 track into 6 separate wav files. Might not work...it totally failed when I tried to rip Raw Deal's opening credits (to retain sound effects but ditch the horrible music) because the 5.1 track wasn't TRULY 5.1...(I think)

Oh, and PS: You might get more help if you posted this in the 'How To' section.

Music is in all channels of a 5.1 mix. Dialog is really the only thing that you could cut out of 5.1, even then the reverb of the dialog as pertinent to the room will still be in the back channels.

Castro's voice may or may not be center channel exclusive. As it's from another source, who knows how they mixed it into the film. You could check, but if not just get the intro music from the CD.

it really all depends on the 5.1 mixing, if a 5.1 audio was used. Use something like dvd-decrypter to rip the 5.1 audio only. Use besweet to make this 6 wave files.

Sometimes you can get very lucky and have no vocals or much of anything else on certain channels (this method is also highly used for films with no score soundtrack released)

The intro, I've downloaded for my fan-film, all have Castro talking. So trying to get it from the CD is out of the question.

What would I use to get the audio only to make it 6 wav files??

the free app besweet will do this for you

http://www.videohelp.com/tools/BeSweet

input your 5.1 audio and on the output box, select 6 wave files. It will make 6 seperate waves for each channel and label them for you

I tried that myself and all it did was open a txt document. No idea what I did wrong, which is why I went to DVD Audio Extractor, which was easier to use.

you could always use cinematize pro for ripping the 5.1 to seperate wav files. worked a treat when i was doing my Jay&Bob edit.

Dang, this seems like alot of work for 50 seconds of a song.

if you want, can you upload the 5.1 track to some place and I can take a swing at it on my end

I've got the Audio, but I don't think its actually in 5.1

Heres the link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YXJNZJSS

If it doesn't work, could you try ripping it? Ripping it did something wierd, and gave me a wierd file extention, so I converted it to audio format. I don't know what I did wrong.

what extension did the ripping give you? The file you upped on megashare is an mp3 and I cannot do much of anything with that

Aw, shit. I knew I shouldn't of deleted it.

It was some wierd file extention.

.ac3? if it was .ac3 it was Dolby Digital. We could have looked at it and seen if it was 5.1 or stereo.

It might of been .ac3

Damnit, I knew I shouldn't of deleted it.

Would someone be kind enough to rip the opening and do that for me?
