SW - Star Wars

Sounds like Rebels 2.0, eh? That's disappointing, but also the most obvious, blandest movie Disney could make. Color me unsurprised.

When are we going to get a decent live action Star Wars series?

Given that we currently have an awesome live-action MCU series in Agents of SHIELD and the general public seems not to care, I'm thinking "never"? :p

I'm only partly joking. Even though Disney owns Marvel, and thus produces the rather violent Marvel/Netflix shows, I have a hard time seeing them fund a live-action Star Wars show adult enough to keep a sufficiently large general audience to justify the unavoidably huge budget.

Considering how much I hate Rebels and the sequels (episode 7 and 8), I'm going to avoid this show.

End 2019.
John Favreau will overlook the project.

Excusez-moi. I think you meant "oversee the project". "overlook" suggests Favreau will do the project but won't bother to put any effort in (which may be the case :D ).

I'll give it a try. Who knows? Worst case scenario: I ignore it, and get my star wars fix another way.

I knew something was wrong in my sentence.
Merci bien.

I may be wrong, but I thought LFL approached the GoT guys to do a live action series, but were persuaded to give them a multi-film deal. That suggests LFL are actively pursuing a live action series. I wouldn’t be surprised if they have something in place that just hasn’t been announced. I’m sure this Filoni thing was inked before they even decided to end Rebels.

I got excited for a second, I thought maybe Favreau was doing a Star Wars characters trapped in the Overlook Hotel type of show.

It was officialy announced that Favreau will "oversee" the making of a live TV-Series, that should start by the end of 2019.
We just don't know anything else about that series so far.

I never heard the GoT guys were approachd to make a TV series. The only thing that was announced was that they will make a "series of movies", not automaticaly a trilogy... could be 2 movies, could be 4 or 5, who knows. But they could also be "movies" made for the future Disney streaming channel.. in this case it would be "almost" a TV-series.

Perhaps I read too much into this quite, which sounded to me like LFL was talking to them about a series but that they weren’t interested in that,  it were interested in making movies.

On Disney’s first-quarter earnings call after the Benioff-Weiss news went public, chairman and CEO Bob Iger was asked why the pair weren’t doing a Star Wars-centered series (like the one being developed for Disney’s new OTT service). “Their interest was in creating Star Wars films,” Iger responded. “We’ve been talking with them for some time. They didn’t express interest in a series.” He added that the pair was focused on “a particular point in time in the Star Wars franchise” with the new movies.

Well, I guess it seems logical that they were asked for a TV-Series, that's what every geeks on the planet were thinking too.
First time I read about that from someone official though.

I love this. I’m a huge fan of Arrested Development.

Spoilers for A New Hope and Empire (mostly for SonofSinbad)

I'd never watched Adywan's Revisited movies until yesterday. While I enjoyed them a lot more than the official special editions, I think I still prefer Harmy's Despecialized. The mixture of CGI and the '70s/'80s footage from the SE still feels weird to me. What versions of the OT do you guys prefer?

I actually watched Adywans Episode IV today with my sister. I think it's an incredible achievement and vastly superior to the versions that are officially available. That said, I'm not keen on some of the added CGI effects and some of the George Lucas changes that are kept. I've never seen the despecialised, but I have the original cut on VHS which I often return to.

Adywans ESB, on the other hand, is easily my go to version of Episode V. All the changes are a massive improvement on both the "special" edition and the theatrical cut. The new mattes look gorgeous and the whole thing is just taken up another level. I'm hoping to see something on a similar scale when Adywan revisits Episode IV for the HD version.

Finally picked up my copy of The Last Jedi today... for 99p  :D

Gift card ;)

Well, apparently “Obi-Wan: A Star Wars  Story” is now an actual thing.  Excited to hear!  To be directed by Stephen Daldry (The Hours, Netflix’s The Crown) who is promising.

On the other hand, I’m less in a frenzy at the idea of sequels to “Solo” but I haven’t seen the film yet.

Is this based on the TMZ report? Their plot synopsis sounds fishy to me.
