2019 won't even arrive due the 2016 Mayan Apocalypse known as the U.S. Presidential Election.

Wow, that's the best thing I've ever seen made out of the prequels.

No offense intended to anyone with prequel projects. I just have kind of a contempt for the prequels in general. Even feature length fanedits that fix them in one way or another come with a disclaimer of "oh btw, they're still the prequels, just re-edited; not recast, rewritten, redirected remakes". I find it really hard to get past how different the overall aesthetic looks and feels from the originals.

The above video doesn't make me think of what could have been, but points out the actual good parts that were already there (it's rather telling that it's only 2 minutes long).

It manages to make them look good in one hand, but on the other, it lets you study how hollow everything felt as each shot only registers because of the OT footage next to it.

That's what I was thinking. On one hand, the video was was cool, on the other, it was painfully obvious how terrible and hollow the prequels were. Just look at how wonderful those OT shots look. Many of the PT analogs are just thin CGI shells that pale in comparison.

I really hope JJ injects some life into this franchise...

I found a podcast where the hosts have guests come on and (at least for the first few episodes) pitch their ideal version of the SW prequels. Interesting, and it reminds me a bit of the youtube videos (What if Episode 1 Was Good and What if Episode 2 Was Good) http://www.sanspantsradio.com/movie-maintenance/

And there's several episodes like that. Sounds like some podcasting fun. Maybe one of us should go on there and represent the reckoning force of 15 years of fan editing.
