New Forum Section Added
#1
http://www.fanedit.org/forums/forumdispl...l-Editions

With the migration to IFDB, the admins realized that some edits didn't quite fit the definition of a True Fanedit, but still deserved to be listed on IFDB and discussed in the forum.

Threads for Custom edits have been moved to the new section. This section would be the same as the "True Fanedits" and "Extended Editions" sections. Only completed Custom/Special Editions by approved faneditors will have threads here. Threads for Customs/Special Editions in-the-works would go in the normal In-The-Works threads. Ditto for Ideas.

I see that the Consecutions are listed in the new section, but shouldn't they fall under True Fanedits? And what about the "Pulp Fiction: Chronological Edit"? Is the only reason why it's no longer considered a True Fanedit because the scenes were only reorganized?
Completed Edits:
Zack And Miri Make A Porno: Extended Workprint Edition / Repo Men - The Reality...It's A Bitch! Edition / The Haunted World Of Katie Featherston / Haunted From Childhood: The Katie Featherston Story

Each Consecution short has its own IFDB page, under the Shorts/Series/Serial category. So the overall Consecution is a DVD collection of short fanedits.

Yeah, from the fanedit details it doesn't look like anything was actually cut out of the movie.

And to make it clear. Just because an edit is listed in the Cutom/Special Edition section doesn't mean it's less of a fanedit. The reasoning behind the categorization is more so people can get an idea of what type of edit it is. It's not trying to Fix a movie (FanFix). It's not trying to re-edit the movie for a whole new viewing experience (FanMix). It's not adding Deleted/Extended Scenes to make a longer version (Extended Edition). It's not condensing a TV show into a feature length movie (TV-to-Movie).

Transformers: Attack of the Score is a perfect example. The score was (almost) completely redone, but the narrative remains the exact same. A lot of hard work was put into that edit so it deserves a place on IFDB.

I've noticed that, but what I meant was that the Consecutions are showing up in the new Custom/Special Edition section on the forum. Even though these are a collection of shorts shouldn't the amount of editing done for each short qualify them as True Fanedits? As far as the forum goes anyways.

But shouldn't the amount of editing that went into re-ordering the scenes in their proper order be taken into consideration? I don't know about anybody else, but when I think of Custom DVD's I think of a DVD that has had the audio completely changed, a DVD that has had the audio removed and replaced with a commentary track only available on laserdisc or online, or a DVD that takes special features from several different releases and brings them together on one disc.

Re: Pulp Fiction Chronological.

Let's be honest here. That editing probably took about 2 hours. Maybe.

Should the amount of time it took to edit really be taken into consideration though? The movie has been edited, granted nothing appears to have been taken out or added in, and it should give you a new viewing experience.
