Return of the King. I like the first two, but I found a lot of that one, especially the battle scenes, a bit tedious. It's a well made movie and it has good parts, but imho it's mediocre compared to its predecessors.

Actually, I'm with Gaith on that one. With you guys on 300 as well. Also Igby Goes Down -- not the most popular film ever, but (to me) inexplicably well-regarded. The only one who emerges from it unscathed, IMO, is Bill Irwin, and that's because he's barely in it.

I fully acknowledge the bloat of Gladiator, but I like it for three reasons:

1. The overall arc of the story is Shakespearean (and I mean that in a good way).

2. Oliver Reed.

3. Oliver Reed (yes, he's that good, especially for his last role).
Criticism is good. Suggestions are better.

HP3 is THE WORST Harry Potter movie and is often praised as the best.

I like that one the best by far. Why don't you like it?

+1 for the best. I think it is significantly better than others in the series.

Frantic Canadian Wrote:I thought it was really good, but I can't watch it anymore. I had no idea how much animal cruelty was involved in that movie. I knew going in that one of the stories was about dog fighting, but I had no idea how graphic and realistic it was going to be. Broke my heart to watch it.

In all honestly, I probably should give the film another viewing. I watched it over 10 years ago, and the combination of it just not coming together that great, and the animal cruelty, made me lose interest in it. I haven't given it another viewing mostly because I don't care to see the dog fighting again. Just seemed way overrated at the time.

I'll also add Melancholia to the list. I was really excited to see that movie, but it turned out to be a piece of shit. Great acting, great cinematography, but in the end I didn't give two shits about any of the characters.

I'm with you on that one. I liked the first two, only saw them theatrically though, but I found the third one quite boring. In fact I almost fell asleep to it, and that has never happened to me before. I thought it was an outrage that it won all those Oscars, including Best Picture. It's like they snubbed the first two films so they decided to make it up and give it a ton of Oscars. Almost as though they were judging the franchise as one film, which essentially it is, instead of judging the film on its own merits.
