Loved the season finale! That ice moon chase was incredible for a TV show. I've only seen the last two episodes of this but I'm praying to the space show gods that they make more.
I was watching The Menagerie. It's kinds weird that the Cage footage has different sounding music and soundFX for the transporter etc. Somebody should do a continuity movie edit that fixes all that by adding in familiar TOS sounds/music.
It was a nice little peak at behind-the-scenes work, a few cast interviews, and it features a story break for the first episode of a hypothetical Season 8 set 20 years later. The best part was the the 20 minutes or so of remastered shots they did for the documentary directly from the 35mm film.
I went to a screening of What We Left Behind last night. The description says "Coming soon! Rich and Mike talk about Season 2 of Star Trek Discovery in depth. Also, yes. We'll talk about the new Picard trailer too.". Can't wait.
...Why doesn't spock and kirk, after the accidental sky dive, go flying off horizontally and crash into a tree when Spock is levelling off/rotating like that? Aren't they rocket boots? Are they supposed to be gravity powered too?
A quite interesting look at the political underpinnings of Trek (but from a philosophical, neutral enough point to not aggravate our find mods):
(I remember early on in the lead-up to Into Darkness, it was rumored that Peter Weller's villain would be a corporate leader, and that we'd see a whole different side to the Federation than Starfleet. Instead, he ended up being yet another bog-standard Evil Admiral. Yawn.)
