Turns the lackluster reboot into a sequel worthy to be part of the franchise

Tagline: This Isn't Fans Unlucky Day
original film name: Friday the 13th
film studio name: Platinum Dunes
Date Original Film Was Released: February 13th, 2009
Date Edit Will Be Released: Mars, 2012
Original Runtime: 106min (Killer cut)
New Runtime: 56min

Intention: One of the taglines for this movie was: Bad luck? ...You don’t know the half of what you’re in for.
And that’s the problem: I want to know what I’m in for when watching a Friday the 13th movie.
A big problem with the reboot, for me, was the reimagining stuff. It all just felt half-assed and the original mythology was so much better and richer. Why redo it if you’re just going to skim over it? So now all that stuff is gone and we are left with Part 12 and a Jason that doesn’t run, doesn’t take prisoners and/or use people as bait.
There are also two new (or should I say different) death scenes and I used the classic score by Harry Manfredini in many scenes to amp up the tension. Left is a movie that is only 56min long but which I hope will satisfy the bloodlust in every fan of the Friday the 13th series.

Edit details:
Includes:
-Classic score by Harry Manfredini
-2 new kills
-More suspense
-Jason Voorhees
-Friday the 13 Part 12

Doesn’t include:

-Jason using people as bait
-The reimagining stuff
-Over the top nudity
-Annoying redneck guy

awesome should definitely be cool. i enjoyed the remake. it's actually what got me interested in taking a look at the other Fridays. (to the point where I own the complete series now) so this one will definitely hold a place in my heart.

I was a fan of the remake... There were some obvious flaws some which are being looked after by SteFAN... so I can't see this being anything but an enjoyable watch for me... As soon as the DL links are posted it's a no brainer DL for me... I really enjoyed your take on Halloween II...

I honestly wished they would've pulled the trigger on a sequel to this...

steFANedit always has an interesting way of reediting the films he has. Angel Myers was amazing and so was Blair Witch 2, so this one should be very different and improved. Can't wait till it's released!!

Any chance that this will be posted to Mediafire? I absolutely refuse to download from Rapidshare anymore.

I agree, Mediafire is SO much quicker and easier! That's where I uploaded mine!

aj då...as I'm writing this the last 100-150mb are uploading...to rapidshare. I didn't know what to do when megaupload was taken down and finally decided on rapidshare since they have been around for long and it seamed like a safe site. All my fanedit are on rapidshare. Are you saying Mediafire is the way to go?

I would say Mediafire is the best option right now. It has fast downloads and easy uploads. RS downloads are really slow right now :-|

You can finish the Rapidshare upload, since there are still some users who use it. But I would highly suggest ALSO uploading to MediaFire. It seems like more people will download it from MF than RS.

Yes, I will download it regardless because I'm very patient, but others won't be so kind, so it would probably be a good idea to upload it to MF also.

Yeah, Mediafire is the best around. Rapidshare limits their free users to 30 kb/s and you have to wait between each download, Mediafire on the other has excellent speed, I get an average of 1.2 MB/s, and you can download more than one file at a time as a free user.

Everything is uploaded and the information is sent to the guys that run this site. Might be up next week.

that's it, I'm uploading to MediaFire

I just got down watching this a couple of seconds ago, and let me say that it was a HUGE improvement!

I love the new opening with Jason sharpening his machete and I like the bullying flashback put there. Much better than the Mrs. Voorhees flashback in the original film. The new credits sequence is beautiful too.

Now, the entire first group of kids are removed, which I don't miss, and it really makes the film's pace faster, which I really like. We now open on the kids entering camp and turn in to an "old school" Friday the 13th movie. From here, the movie really gets interesting as Clay's back story unfolds with Whitney missing. I really enjoy the way Whitney's character is introduced by Clay instead of her friends in the removed intro.

From now, comes the scenes with Clay looking for Whitney and Trent and his group enjoying themselves. Then when Clay and Jenna go off to look for Whitney things get interesting. I am so glad that Jason throwing the canoes around was removed. It's now a much more tense scene.

Now, the shortened sex scene was a nice touch because the original one was just SO OVER DRAMATIC! I mean "stupendous" really?

I really enjoyed Chewie's new death scene with the saw. Amazingly edited and is much more brutal which is what you expect from a 21st Century Jason.

Also, Jenna's new death scene is MUCH BETTER shortened to the way it is. The original one was just to long and unnecessary.

I especially enjoyed Trent's new death scene! I absolutely hated the original because it was very unrealistic and was again unnecessary. Plus, it shortens down Trent's screen time which is always good because I just flat out hated the character, lol.

The new ending is really good as well! I don't know if it was a deleted scene that you used or you just edited it a lot. I can't really remember the original ending because I haven't seen the movie since I first got the blu-ray.

All I know is that this is the SUPERIOR version of Friday The 13th. And I really liked it better as the idea of a sequel instead of a remake, because that's what I thought it was more of when I first saw it.

For me, "Friday The 13th: Return To Crystal Lake" gets a 10/10!!

Happy Camping :)

I just finished watching this. I see what you meant about it feeling too short, but that's alright because it works better this way. The opening scene in the theatrical cut was good, but it was pointless because they all get killed in the first 5-10 minutes of the movie. What was the point of it, besides showing some tits and kills? By getting rid of it you cut straight to the point and I like that.

The video editing was perfect, but a couple of scenes did stand out when it came to the audio editing. The first one is when Chewie pulls out "Lucille" and has a conversation with Lawrence, pretending to be "Lucille". When the scene ends it sounds like some music or something was about to start just before you transitioned to the next scene. The other scene is when Clay gets pulled over by Officer Bracke. Just as the scene is ending it looks like the audio was cut for a second or two. These aren't a problem, they just stood out a bit is all.

Now regarding Jason. Unfortunately it's impossible to turn him into the undead killer we all love, what with the shot of him carrying around the dead body and Clay and Jenna mentioning that there's a guy out there carrying a dead body, but you did a great job of trimming as much of it as possible. If you don't mind my saying though I think you should have cut, or at least trimmed if possible, the scene with Clay asking the old woman if she had seen his sister because she mentions that "he only wants to be left alone". If this was anybody else it wouldn't be a problem, but this is Jason we're talking about. Saying that "he only wants to be left alone" humanizes him, and that would infer that he's human. The other thing I think should have been cut is the shot of the bell going off when Clay trips in the woods. This also suggests that Jason is human because he was able to set a trap. Aside from that I think you did a great job with this edit and I give it a 5/5.

Hmm, 56 mins. seems awfully short for an edit. IMO, anything under 75 mins. should be considered a short film not a feature. I'll give it a watch, even though the short running time isn't very appealing to me.
