Thanks to the advice of Frantic Canadian, I made custom covers for The Thing (2011) based off my covers for The Toon-Thing edit that was cancelled.

I may do other covers in the future, but for now, here is what I got. For all of them I went the minimalist route.

I`d go with the last one, but with the disc`s hue slid all the way left or right so the colors are normal but the levels are still inverted. I like the bottom one the best :)

No, inverted like before, but the hue slid so the colors are the regular blues instead of oranges.
 
I think that's what he was saying about the disc hue and inversion.
Whabout using the ice-crevice image as background for the rear of the cover, and laying some copy over the white parts at the top right and bottom left?
You could start with one of the taglines ("It's not human. Yet." and "Man is still the warmest place to hide"), and put the other on the spine...

Eh, I don't know. I don't really want to use the ice-crevice image on any of the other covers. I wanted each cover to be unique and not use the same image on more than 1 cover. The only thing all three have in common is the title on the spine. But thanks for the suggestion. :)
 
Yep, that's what i meant, it almost looks like he's frozen now, you could even add some semi-transparent ice texture ontop of the guy to make it look more like he is frozen in the ice, if you wanted to that is.
 
Isn't this the same thread as the "Fanedits gallery" one? Unless I'm mistaken, "alternate gallery" is alternate covers for regular movies.

To clarify. I did covers for Toonloon's edit of The Thing. But he has since decided not to release the edit here and left the forums. (He told me so in private.) I was originally just going to scrap all his covers but Frantic Canadian suggested I make them alternate covers for the movie itself.

By the way, the ice crevice cover is my favorite, but I bet the side would look better if the logo was the same color as the logo on the front, so that it stands out from the ice more. I don't know, maybe you wanted it to blend in or something, but it seems like it would be better if it was the same blue as on the front.
