1) The staff are not a hive-mind.  TM2YC did not "flag" your post, I did.  We discuss a lot of things but it was a minor issue that needed no discussion.

2) They are discussing the politics of a movie that won Best Picture, and the Academy politics of a competing movie not winning.  You made an open-ended complaint about "the politics that occurred at last year's Oscars" which is not a movie discussion, it's a politics discussion.  I'm sorry if you don't see the distinction, but it exists nevertheless.

Saw all three in a theater screening. Detainment is powerful, and entirely convincingly acted by the kids. Skin is a modern-day Roald Dahl fable, and quite good. Madre is an interesting enough scene, but only tells a half-story, which I find annoying. Just because you're making a short film doesn't mean you can't pack a beginning, middle, and end into a quarter hour or less.

My daughters were overjoyed because they had actually seen it so it was neat for them to have something they saw win.  With that said, I thought it was cute, but not Oscar-worthy.
