The color is from the hand-tinted original... it's not digital colorization. I'm totally impressed how ancient silent films can be brought to life, either by meticulous restoration or by colorizing, dialogue dubbing, foley effects, etc. A Trip to the Moon is really vibrant. There will be a DVD release sometime, I'm sure. This special edition will be released in February:

I own this version of Trip to the moon. It's a fairly good restoration.
