Article: Fanediting tech

I don't know how much you're up-to-date with OT.com, ThrowgnCpr, but member dark_jedi already released a GOUT Blu version of the OT, and (excuse my french) it's f@cking fantastic! :) Maybe you should check it out ;)

You misspelled that French word :p

Nice article, Throw.

yeah, I check occasionally, but it is a GOUT, which also isn't historically perfect. Still pretty cool. Would like to check out that Blu sometime.

As much as that tool looks great, I can't help but think that on a movie (where you noticed frames change 24 times by seconds!) it would be more tricky to apply that kind of color correction (that might work on a frame but not automaticaly on another one, few seconds later.)
Kind of when you use an automatic Brightness/contrast effect. The result is jarring 50% of the time.
Maybe I'm wrong, just my two cents. Very interesting article anyway :)

I am hopeful. Adobe has members of their development team working on these algorithms, and I think that will surely translate to some sort of integration into the Creative Suite. 3rd party plugins have come a long way in the past couple years (e.g., Red Giant Magic Bullet suite) and Adobe has made some nice additions to AE CS5 that we wouldn't have expected. These algorithms are way more complex than just applying a global color shift. let's cross our fingers that this is possible for future editing!

Fascinating stuff. Thanks for posting it!
