Has anyone been watching this on AMC?

I'm very much looking forward to Sunday night (and have my fingers crossed that they won't f*ck this up!)

I have. Haven't seen last Sunday's episode yet, but the show is pretty good. Dreary, but good. I have a feeling the killer is

Last Sunday's episode was great, especially the last few minutes. This episode kinda redeemed the series from the pointless/filler episode of "Missing" where Linden's son goes AWOL. Also, i totally agree with your hunch. But I only came to that conclusion after watch last Sunday's episode.

Yeah... "Missing" was a strange episode, and really didn't fit in with the overall story, but it did a really nice job fleshing out the characters. Necessary? No. Acceptable? Yes.

What a disappointment!

Indeed. The first half was great, but the latter was kinda bleh. And considering the quality of this first season all in all that's quite a blow.

I wasn't disappointed at all, and I loved the twist at the end. Why were you disappointed? You wanted a full resolution? You didn't like that
her partner
turned out to be crooked?

That "betrayal" I can live with, it was just the beat the episode ended on, too much JFK for me. Also, it's still not 100% crystal clear whether or not his motive is good or bad yet, especially since the person in the driver seat was off camera (I loved that part btw).

What I've found amusing is that a lot of people have been complaining about the ending and yet the show did exactly what they wanted it to do, shock you and give you the unexpected.

I'm not defending nor really putting down the ending (personally I was fine with it and when the "betrayal" occurred, I was like OH NO!), but I've read some many posts on IMDB that people aren't going to watch anymore because of the ending and the show moves too slow (really?) and it rains too much.

I love the show because it is different. I like that the season didn't end with a neatly wrapped bow. Do I want to see different cases in the future, definitely, but I doubt it will be as compelling as the first big case we've been introduced to.

The show comes off as very realistic to me. Don't read this wrong, but the fact that no one in this show is attractive and wearing expensive clothes just gives it more of a gritty realism. No hot blonde in a low cut shirt driving around town in a flashy new Camaro using her sex appeal to get answers. Linden wears ugly sweaters, her hair is a mess, she looks tired and worn out (personally I don't find her remotely attractive at all), she cowers down when she is being yelled at by a superior, it feels way more realistic.

Sometimes I think people complain about this show because it goes for more gritty realism than most other shows. It ain't Twin Peaks, and for some reason people still make that comparison because of the one thing they have in common, a murdered girl whom no one REALLY knew. Maybe if The Killing added in a dancing dwarf the haters would be happy.

Thanks for reading the rant.....

With The Walking Dead recently returning, and Game of Thrones coming back another show has sort of been forgotten: The Killing. Anyone else excited for this to return? While I think its sort of crappy the killer won't be revealed until the end of season two, I loved the general look and depressing emotion of the first season. You could smell the dampness of the show. This is another show I will be watching come April.

I am NOT excited for "The Killing" to return. But I will still probably end up watching the new season just out of curiosity. I won't go into all the problems I had with the last episode (and the series as a whole). Don't get me wrong, I liked the series, but certain things bothered me. And the last episode left a bad taste in my mouth (that's what she said).

Mostly I really dislike Veena Sud. I think she is pretentious and thinks she's the greatest thing since sliced bread, some quotes:

"It's a show where nothing is what it seems, so throw out expectations."
"The other thing I just want to say is that the show itself is a real invitation to try something really new. And I know that some people may not be so happy that we didn't tie it up in a bow at the end of the season, but we never promised that, and we're trying to do something different here."

Here is an article that sums up a lot of how I felt about it:

Blah, anway. I'm more looking forward to Game of Thrones, which quickly became one of my favorite shows.

Damnit, well I got sucked back in and am almost caught up with where they are in Season 2.

To writers credit, they avoided the cliched "everything goes back to normal by the end of the season premiere" and instead it took a few episodes for Linden and Holder to be back to their working relationship

But the more I watch of this season, the more I think this show is PERFECT for a fanedit. Because:

Do we really care about the Councilman anymore? Or Gwen or anyone connected with him? Midge can be trimmed down because - fuck! go be a mother, picking up random men at hotel bars is not an acceptable way to grieve for your dead daughter! And as far as season 1 goes cut down on the amount of red herrings, or leave them in i dunno, but depending on how season 2 ends - making the first two season into a miniseries could make for a compelling fanedit

The only problem I can think of is that every single episode has that dramatic 30 second - 1 minute wrap up with visuals of each of the main characters and that dramatic music.

But anyway, back to the show. I feel like such an asshole as I was really pissed after the end of Season 1 and had swore off the show BUT i'm still watching!

Am I the only one still watching this show? Shit just got real last episode

No way Holder was killed. That would be Game of Thrones style surprise if they killed him off. But the question is how are they gonna reconnect with the Indian (Native American) maid from the Casino?

I'm watching. The show has quite the Dennis LeHane vibe goin' on right now and I love it.

OK I went from liking this show in the 1st season to hating it by the end of the 1st season. To being drawn back in at the start of the 2nd season and now hating it with its most recent episode. Linden's relationship with her son is growing tired and repetitive. And as far as the investigation, i really think the writers have no idea what the end game is and are making it up as they go.

I thought the manhunt part was very exciting but have to agree on Linden's parental... skills.

Wow, I don't know what to make of the most recent episode. I read a bunch of reviews online to see if anyone agreed with my thoughts but damn. People were claiming this was the best episode of the 2nd season and the show is "finally back on track". Joel Kinnaman is the only reason I keep coming back to the show. Holder is an awesome character and his distraction in the casino was hilarious "ain't no party without no trim". However, I found his confrontation with Gil, anything but menacing. It just seemed cliched. And its never a good sign when I can start predicting dialogue on an episode of a TV show, (i.e. "you sure you want to do this?")

Linden's exposition while on the 10th floor would have been better had it none been so repetitive. I know they were trying to build tension but it still felt like it was dragging for no reason "there's no blood. Why was she here? What did she see? She was leaving. She was saying good bye. But who was here?" etc. etc.

I dunno. Well the way I feel about this show, there's probably no way I'll be satisfied by the ending even if its a great ending and it makes the past two seasons all worth it BUT i'm still gonna watch, i'll just continue to complain
