Hi there. I'm in the market for a good (not high-end yet, but not lousy either), Mac-compatible microphone. My budget's quite limited right now, so I'm looking ideally for something under $45-50 US.

I've read a bunch of reviews of various cheap(ish) USB microphones, but the reviews often contradict each other, so I don't know which ones to trust.

This'll primarily be for speech (including possibly dictation for my dissertation, but also commentary tracks and so on for fanediting), but it would be nice to find one that can handle vocals too.

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!

Condenser mic's tend to be the best bang for your buck, and can be used for a variety of applications.
