SPACE BATTLESHIP YAMATO

Opens this Christmas in Japan.
Hopefully, a dvd version will come eventually to Region One.....
It would be totally cool if in the English Dub they used their character names
from the Star Blazers cartoon.:)

Apparently, they also remade the original cartoon in 2009, though as far as I know it has not been released here....

Finally got the region one blu-ray this week.

Very enjoyable old fashioned space opera loaded with melodrama, honor and sacrifice. Though the ending goes on way too long, I kept thinking the badguys could have destroyed the Earth a dozen times already in the time it took everyone to say their goodbyes and evacuate the ship...lol

While my memories of Star Blazers is very vague, I did find myself smiling broadly every time they played the original theme music.
I wonder if a fan edit could be made using the american version audio?

Now to await the region one release of CAPTAIN HARLOCK SPACE PIRATE 3D.... hopefully that won't take 3 years too...

And when am I going to get a Gatchamen live action movie??? lol

I haven't yet, which is shamefully negligent of me, considering I'm a Gatch fan, but, from the reviews that I've read, it's got an awesome opening action sequence, but then it gets really talky in the middle (not a problem for me, personally; the show had a lot of talky moments), and the final fighting takes place in dark caves, making it hard to see what's going on.

I still want to see it, though.
