Fair,  except for your implication that matrixed surround isn't real surround,  because it definitely is. Theaters used to use it.  It's controlled, and can accurately pan things from front and back.  Dialogue isn't totally isolated to the center channel, but it is all up front and towards the center,  and surround effects do accurately come out of the surround channels.  "Experience" wise, it's pretty much the same.

I've brought my laptop to the local library to do some work, and there's an old lady dusting the books on the shelves. I'd never considered before that they would have to do that.

Of course, it's entirely possible that she doesn't work here.
 
My housemate works at a library. They recently caught a guy there dusting a shelf.
