This site is totally badass! Bookmark it now.

Screencaps of (not every) but a sh*tload of onscreen movie titlecards from the birth of cinema, until today. Anybody stuck for inspiration on how to create that perfect title for your fanedit with a period font/look, a genre feel, or a professional shine, take note.

You can search it by Directors like Scorsese, Kubrick or Carpenter.

Pages just exploring Saul Bass.

This is like porn for typeface fans :p.

Awesome find!!! :thumb::thumb::thumb:

So it seems. I suppose it was only a matter of time before something dethroned the prequels as most edited/hated trilogy ever.

So I pre-ordered the Limited-Ed Blu-Ray/Book-pack of 'Interstellar' from Amazon. It hit the shops on Monday morning (For the same exact price), it's now Thursday night and I still haven't recieved it, it's bank-holiday weekend with no post and I won't get the Blu-Ray delivered until next Tuesday.

I'm off out to go burn down Amazon!

In case you're interested Best Buy has a Limited Edition that comes with an exclusive bonus disc. Not sure if it's the same one you ordered, but Wal-Mart has one that comes with a book. And HMV has a steelbook edition. Target may have an exclusive edition as well, but we no longer have Target stores in Canada so I couldn't stay without checking online.

Sidenote: Not sure if there's any steelbook collectors here, but HMV has some exclusive steelbooks for the first season of Breaking Bad. Not sure how many there are, but I saw at least four different ones. Each one features a sketch of a different character on the front.

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this but I thought I would share my feelings.

I've been using Macintosh's full time since 2006 and been playing around with Final Cut X, in my spare time, for the past couple of years. I just recently bought a new laptop that wasn't a Mac.

I feel both anxious and thankful to be finally one step closer to freedom from the walled garden of the apple ecosystem. I'm thankful because upgrading apple hardware was getting very costly and each of their new designs was more frustrating than the last. l am anxious because now I have to learn a whole new video editing program as well as a new workflow. I actually liked FCPX quite a bit.

Luckily I have this site and members as a guide to help me through this transition. I just want to say that I'm grateful for this sites' existence and for all the kind members that populate it.

That is all.

It's May Day, so let's celebrate the "Safety Dance" music video

Self-explanatory post, really...

safety3.jpg

Men Without Hats
' "The Safety Dance" is obviously one of, if not the, greatest music videos of all time, and it depicts a Maypole-featuring celebration, on what is probably a May Day, as is today. So, let us celebrate this pinnacle of an art form, and a monumental achievement of Western civilization in general.

I wish my May 1sts were this awesome.

Geek trivia: the little person is Mike Edmonds, who played an Ewok and helped animate Jabba's tail in RotJ.

"Yub nub?"

Indisputable fact: Men Without Hats' Ivan Doroschuk is a total badass in the video, despite his lack of dancing, which, like rain on your wedding day, is deeply ironic.

You_ll_dance_when_i_tell_you_to_a80f449d1027630.jpg

Just how was he not cast as Aragorn?!

Here's what he's had to say about the video:

“I’ve always said that I was in the right place at the right time,” he continues. “When ‘Safety Dance’ came out, our record label really wanted us to make a video. MTV was starting out and probably only had three or four videos in rotation at the time. It was all so new, but it got us the recognition we wanted right away…. The new wave sound that we were championing was the perfect marriage between synth and prog. Looking back, it was the way we were all going to escape the disco scene.”

... Ever wondered who that ebullient blonde woman was?

Judging by this shot, she has left her friends behind.

If so, you're not alone; a number of people have. Turns out she's Louise Cort, a Cosmopolitan UK editor. Here's a recent-ish picture of her blasting from the past.

[/align]

(And yes, there is a literal music video version, and yes, it is great.)

All in all, it's a great song that remains thoroughly relevant today:

It's frustrating to find that certain puddings on a restaurant's menu do not come with iced cream, when those that do are not obviously bigger, more elaborate or more expensive. Having to place a side order to receive what the next man is receiving for free leaves a bitter taste that might rob one's sweet of its sweetness.

By the same token, I object to ordering butter croissants for breakfast and being charged extra for a tiny jar of jam, without which I could not enjoy them. The cheek of it!

Round these parts, that's called a "F**k you charge". As in...

Retailer - "...and a £2 booking fee"
Customer - "Can I have one without the booking fee?"
Retailer - "No I'm sorry sir, that's the f**k you charge"
