I was listening to a recent interview from comedy duo Reeves and Mortimer and they (Somewhat jokingly) accused Daniel Day Lewis of ripping off their ridiculous 1999 character "Kinky John Fowler" for the voice used in his 2002 BAFTA winning performance as Bill 'The Butcher' from 'Gangs Of New York'...

He totally did :D...!




Somebody needs to redub 'Gangs Of New York' with this stuff.

This falls under the "Rant" category...

Recieved the UK "Optimum" 'Escape From New York' Blu-Ray from Amazon this morning. I could barely believe how terrible this looks! :-x They have clearly done a botched upscale of the DVD and burned it to a Blu-Ray. Only due to massive noise removal and then heavy sharpening this looks much, much worse than my old DVD (Which looked decent for SD). This is by a long chalk, the worst Blu-Ray I've ever purchased. To put that in perspective, I've purchased the legendarily awful original Blu-Ray releases of Gladiator and The French Connection... this makes those look like 8K transfers ;-).

On a positive note Amazon refunded me the money and just said f**k it, keep the Blu-Ray as well :noidea:.

Thankfully it seems that Shout! Factory are releasing an awesome looking "Ultimate Edition" with a new transfer next month. So I'll wait for that.
