• Most new users don't bother reading our rules. Here's the one that is ignored almost immediately upon signup: DO NOT ASK FOR FANEDIT LINKS PUBLICLY. First, read the FAQ. Seriously. What you want is there. You can also send a message to the editor. If that doesn't work THEN post in the Trade & Request forum. Anywhere else and it will be deleted and an infraction will be issued.
  • If this is your first time here please read our FAQ and Rules pages. They have some useful information that will get us all off on the right foot, especially our Own the Source rule. If you do not understand any of these rules send a private message to one of our staff for further details.

random thoughts. rants. general nonsense.

Just like to say that I dig fanedit.org. Thanks to the admins who keep it running. It's a great little community. Good job guys. :grouphug:

Anyone able to explain #6 for me? I'm not quite clear what it means, though I think I get the rest of 'em:

  • "Rule 1: NEVER make a cut without a positive reason."
  • "Rule 2: When undecided about the exact frame to cut on, cut long rather than short."
  • "Rule 3: Whenever possible cut 'in movement'."
  • "Rule 4: The 'fresh' is preferable to the 'stale'."
  • "Rule 5: All scenes should begin and end with continuing action."
  • "Rule 6: Cut for proper values rather than proper 'matches'."
  • "Rule 7: Substance first—then form."

Anyone care to guess?

Definitions of value that may apply there:

- relative worth, utility, or importance

- the relative duration of a musical note

- the relative degree of lightness or darkness of a particular color

I think he's basically saying this:

It doesn't matter if the cuts aren't all beautifully orchestrated as long as the editing doesn't get in the way of what the scene is trying to say. That would tie into Rule 7 nicely.

I spelled 'documents' 'dowuments' at least 5 times today. dhatever.

Random thoughts....

I like movies that are shot in an Aspect Ratio of 1.85:1

I'm teaching my dog the fantastic Mr. Fox trademark whistle. He is learning it well, and comes running every time I do that whistle, granted the incentive is a treat, but he comes over right away and that's the important thing. It's easier than calling his name, which takes way too long cause he's a fussy brat.

Neglify awoke terrified. There were no posts to be seen on FE.org! Then, with a sigh, he remembered he could search for posts updated during the previous 24 hours, here.

He smiled, knowing all was right in the world, and laid his weary head on his pillow.

Is this a cliffhanger?

^ yeah the fluffer notice is gone, :(

Whoever did that Perdition's Flame's banner did an excellent job!

I miss reading about reave and his foot fetish.

It always helps to look at the big picture...

That's fantastic. the last panel is pure gold. When Christianity devolves into Mother Grundy's Moralism. What a takedown! :)

Awesomeness.

I think the greeks had it right. If there is a god or gods, we were created purely for entertainment. You can only watch so many stars go supernova for an eternity before you start tinkering around at giving some things the ability of self-determination. Wind em up, and watch where they go.

Humanity's best destiny was to invent drama. HBO is the meaning of life. :)
