It's rather hard to define exactly what this film is about, because it's about many things: It's partly an animated adaptation of The Ramayana set to 1920's Motown soul, occasionally interrupted with an often very funny discussion on the story's meanings, and partly Nina Paley (director/writer/everything else) dealing with her breakup with her husband.

That said, it's a simply spectacular experience, and I highly recommend you watch it right now, as it's Creative Commons licenced (except a few songs which are still under some rather ridiculous copyrights).
