Trailer's out, and honestly I don't understand one bit of it. Rami Malek's the new baddie and Blofeld is kinda back. Release date: 2 April 2020 (UK), 8 April 2020 (UK)

Synopsis:

In No Time To Die, Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.

Wow...a Craig movie might have a plot for once.

The trailer doesn’t look all that good… but I’ll go just to see where it goes. On Spectre’s night I felt the Craig act in the series had nowhere left to go. Hopefully this proves me wrong!

EDIT: I wonder how many SPECTRE+NO TIME TO DIE edits will be getting ready...

Time hasn't made that title sound any better.

The sequel to a bottom-five Bond movie from five years ago that nobody wanted.

Yeah, I just... agree. I imagine they have a story that is great enough to have it spiral from the events of Spectre.

I'd be hard-pressed to put Spectre in my bottom 5 Bond movies.  For me the movie was simply fine.  It was far too long and dragged out in spaces, and the whole third act needed more urgency and purpose, but there is nothing that is really too detrimental about the film other than its boring.  I know there are far better Bond movies, but I also feel that there are just as many poorer ones as well. For me, Spectre is about as average as it gets, which may be its worse sin.

For example, my bottom 5 (in no particular order)
Die Another Day
The Man With the Golden Gun
A View to a Kill
Diamonds Are Forever
Quantum of Solace

With this being Craig's last, they've got to work with what they've got and for me, it looks like it will be a nice cumulation of Craig's era in the role.  I doubt it will reach the highs of Casino Royale, but if it can be on the level of Skyfall I will be happy with the outcome.

Am I seriously the only one to see Quantum of Solace as one of my favourite Bond films? I haven’t watched them all, nor have I ever been a big fan, but… Maybe I should watch it again :D

The Craig Bond movies have been all over the place so far:

-Casino Royale: Amazing reboot and while it is a bit too long, it's still an amazing introduction to Craig's Bond.

-Quantum of Solace: The worst Bond film ever in my opinion, a wasted story, the worst theme song ever, terrible direction and camera work and clearly rushed to make an unsatisfying sequel.

-Skyfall: One of the best Bond films ever, a great personal story, great villain (even if his plan relies on a lot of conveniences and contrivances) and a Bond we've never seen before.

-Spectre: This felt like a step back, too long, idiotic villain plot twist, terrible theme song (curse you whoever decided to reject the Radiohead version!) and an unconvincing love story.

So I have no idea how No Time To Die in terms of good or bad.

I’ve felt it for a long time, but the recent Mission Impossible movies are way more fun and feel like Bond movies compared to the uneven ones we’ve gotten from Craig. Casino and Skyfall are complete opposites of Quantum and Spectre.

As far as I am concerned, Spectre is the last Bond movie.

You thought the behind-the-scenes shakeups were over?  Nope!  Dan Romer is no longer composing the score, and has been replaced by Hans Zimmer.

I actually did want this, as I thought Spectre was an unbelievable, just.... just dumb way to end Bond's story.  It made little to no sense, plot-wise, character-wise, or thematically.  I can understand Craig and company saying "we don't want to go out like that."

I liked it quite a lot, actually.  Not one of the best, but it was a nice change of pace.  Essentially, Bond on a tear, out for answers and revenge.  Kind of like the intention of License to Kill, right?  I loved Forster's action scenes!

Me and my friends were discussing theories about this movie and one we came up with was that since this is Craig's last Bond film, it's possible he will get killed off and Lashana Lynch's character will become the main character of the next film (assuming it's not another reboot). I hope it's not ture.

That's fair enough. I'm happy to see Craig back, but I wanted a clean break from Spectre. It doesn't make sense to continue a story that had such a lukewarm reception. I also think both Quantum and Spectre have proven that audiences don't want direct sequels in Bond, especially if they're just going to be poorly conceived, multi-million dollar postscripts to stories that are actually good (Casino Royale and Skyfall).

As in the JB character? I can't ever see that happening, it's killing the proverbial goose. "The names Guy... Some Guy?".

I could actually see that.  It'd be kind of interesting.

Think about it, what did they do last film....had him retire to be married happily ever after?  How do they come back from that?  They might as well just kill him.  Because they're going to have to contrive some "his wife died" or "I'd only come out of retirement for a mission this personal" or some other B.S.

As these films have been the only ones to have a large over-arching story, I'd rather they just put a bow on them and make them their own thing.  Especially if they're going to follow this gender-swapping trend and cash in on a female Bond next.  What's the difference between telling an audience "forget he was dead" and telling them "forget he was a HE"?
