Cranked this out while I was working on the Skyspectre hybrid edit.

What's This About?

Nothing too radical, it's by large the same film you're used to, with a few light trims and only a couple of major omissions

Original Title: Skyfall
Studios: Eon Productions, MGM, Columbia Pictures
Faneditor: Zarius
Originally Released: 2012
Original  Running Time: 143
Fanedit Running Time: 121
Cut Time: 21 minutes

Cutlist

-Movie begins in media res on the battle aboard the train. Everthing preceeding that has been cut, we learn why things happen throughtout the film anyway.

-"Skyfall" by Adele cut, replaced by "The World" by Sela Sue. Skyfall titles slightly trimmed so the new song fits.

-Glimpses into life during Bond's exile abroad is cut

-Bond's talk with the psychologist cut after he calls M a "bitch"

-Bond and Q's banter at the museum cut entirely. Q's there on strict buisness, hands Bond what he needs, and leaves

-Battle at the Casino is cut

-Sex scene in the shower cut

-Train crash cut

-M's death cut, scene in the church ends on a bit of Bond wit

-References to M's will being read out by Moneypenny cut, it's implied she simply retires as her job's done.

I like your cutlist, particularly the new opening. This changes the feel of the film without changing much of the story.

Intriguing cutlist - think I need to see this... 3 Bond edits in one week... amazing.  Congrats Zarius

Thanks LS and Lapis, I needed to do something breezy and minimalist because of how complex some other edits were gettin , rofl. Sometimes I really hate writing out the cutlists if the edit is a bit more complicated as I can sometimes never keep track of how many changes I made, and sometimes I won't remember details of the scenes I'm addressing in them. Thankfully these trims were minor enough that I kept track of them all.

@"Zarius" , nice work. There are two moments that make me go "what just happened, did I miss something?":
- When M asks Bond why he returned, and
- when Bond gets M's bulldog statue followed by him calling Mallory "M".
Unfortunately I don't see how to fix that without putting their deleted bits back in. Which goes against the point of this edit. Other than those two concerns, I like the snappier pace.

Here are my suggestions if you plan to make an updated version.
- The train chase doesn't feel quite right for an opening. Keep the focus solely on Bond with the villain to improve this. To achieve that, remove Moneypenny driving. Introduce her as she jumps out of her jeep with a rifle.
- The new opening song starts with LP static, which is distracting and inconsistent with the slick production values of the Bond franchise. Solution: remove the static.
- Cut references to Ronson (Bond in M's home, M in her bunker office).
- The Shanghai taxi ride now feels oddly long, after the very snappy Bond - Q meeting. Solution: trim it a bit.
- I like how you completely cut the boat shower scene.
- The Tube chase runs perfectly smoothly.
- M's last scene in church works, but ends a bit too abruptly. Stay in the church for one beat longer before going to the next scene.

Good ideas. I'll see what I can do.

Personal preference here, but I don't feel I have to omit the Ronson references, I was trying to imply losing him was part of the unknown story we learn more through conversations, since we started the film in media-res.

The bulldog thing isn't that confusing. The original M retired, a new M took over and Bond is aware of this.

I did try to stay on Bond and M for a beat longer in the church, but M starts getting weaker from her wound at that point and begins to collapse, so the beat I left it on was really all I had to work with in order to keep the scene consistent.

@"Zarius" , yeah I figured you used all the footage you could in the church scene. Too bad we faneditors don't have excess to footage that doesn't make it onto the blu-ray!

I see your point about Ronson. While we don't get to know more about Ronson, this way we do get a glimpse into the story right before our train opening.
