• Most new users don't bother reading our rules. Here's the one that is ignored almost immediately upon signup: DO NOT ASK FOR FANEDIT LINKS PUBLICLY. First, read the FAQ. Seriously. What you want is there. You can also send a message to the editor. If that doesn't work THEN post in the Trade & Request forum. Anywhere else and it will be deleted and an infraction will be issued.
  • If this is your first time here please read our FAQ and Rules pages. They have some useful information that will get us all off on the right foot, especially our Own the Source rule. If you do not understand any of these rules send a private message to one of our staff for further details.

It's almost the end of the year. Let's conclude the 2018 FEOTY Awards, before we start the 2019 Awards in January. Voting for the 2018 polls closes on 18 December. So if you haven't voted yet: vote now!
Voting eligibility: Voting is limited to active members who have been registered for more than a month and have a minimum of 5 posts.

Without further ado, the main attraction! With so many great edits released in 2018, this is an incredibly strong category. Faneditors seasoned and new contributed to the site in a big way. Here are the nominees:

The Hobbit: The Original Two-Film Structure by @"AdamDens"

Game of Thrones: A Tale of Kings and Honor by @"Andreas"

Star Wars: Episode I - The Ancient Lore by @"Andreas"

Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man by @"Bobson Dugnutt"

Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi: Anti-Cringe-Cut by @"DonKamillo"

The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Reworked by @"EXPOED"

Batman: The Man Who Laughs by @"Ryantology"

Back To The Future: The Hill Valley Chronicles by @"Sinbad"

Star Wars - Rogue One: Where Rebels Dare by @"TM2YC"

Good sportsmanship: Faneditors are not allowed to vote for their own edit in the 2018 FEOTY Awards. Faneditors are not allowed to solicit votes by PMing users or promoting the poll in other forums or social sites.
If you have a fanedit entered in a category, you may want to shout this from the rooftops. That's great! Just take care that you encourage others to vote in the category, rather than specifically for your edit. For example, this is good: "My Something_Amazing edit is one of the entries for FEOTY! Please vote for the edit you like best." While this goes too far: "My Something_Amazing edit is up for FEOTY! Go vote for my edit!" Any enthusiasm that crosses into the grey area of "is it or isn't it" will be evaluated by FE moderators on a case by case basis. In the event of vote manipulation, FE moderators may adjust the number of votes or disqualify an entry.

Now if you haven't voted yet: vote!

Holy hand-grenades! How are we expected to vote for only one edit in this incredible line-up?

@"AdamDens" 's Hobbit stands as-near-as-I-know to a scholarly work. And for anyone tackling Tolkien, that's a compliment.
@"Andreas" 's Ancient Lore convincingly re-writes Star Wars history to bring Qui-Gon and Darth Maul the significance later Star Wars stories (animated and written) have assigned them.
@"Bobson Dugnutt" makes our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man better with a deceptively light touch. It's wonderfully easy to forget your watching an edit.
@"Sinbad" created a 1980's TV mini-series. The concept is novel, the execution is outstanding (better production values than many actual 1980's TV shows!), and it made me enjoy Back To The Future like it was my first time watching it again. Truly a journey back in time, except it was made in 2018!
@"TM2YC" strikes again, with another edit that soundly improves on and replaces the theatrical version.

And those are just the edits that I've seen from this list. I have no doubt that @"DonKamillo" , @"EXPOED" , and @"Ryantology" 's edits are equally superb.

Congratulations to all candidates, and good luck to everyone voting. ;)

Yep - a No-Brainer this; DonKamillo by a mile.
He's done the Impossible, made Last Jedi something worth the time spent [finally!]
"All Hail DonKamillo!!"
:D

It's cool to vote and show support for what you like and all, but it's always weird when someone new shows up, posts once, casts a vote in one poll, then disappears forever.

"I don't know why you say goodbye, I say hello."

It's under discussion.

We've removed a few votes.

I actually wanted to do some reviews for some FanEdits I have seen but I can't figure out how. I have searched the forums and can't see it on the F.A.Qs. I am most probably going to be an active member because I cannot stand the hollywood edits anymore. Maybe I will contribute even with my own edits if I see a film that is worth editing.

Too bad you don't get a vote.

@"DonKamillo" what exactly is going on here?

You guys know there’s no money involved, right?

Thanks for the votes and kind words mates, it means a lot to me!

It seems though that giving me too much love has angered some of the admins here :)

What exactly are you getting at Frink?

Instead of being rude, maybe you could fill the people here in on the criteria one has to fullfill to be able to give a vote in a fanedit poll so there are no misunderstandings.

Otherwise one might get the idea that there's some censorship going on here...

Wow.

So we are currently discussing how to handle this, but your post didn't help matters.  If you want this to blow over, you might stop playing dumb, and instead immediately explain why a bunch of people with no posts here are suddenly all posting to tell everyone how good your edit is.

Did the same thing happen when he was up for FEOTM?

The accounts that commented that they voted for it, while not posting before, they seem to have been around for years, so I doubt that it's a matter of him making multiple accounts, but that's all the input I'm going to give, I can't say if there's more to it, nor should I. I do think that maybe this should be discussed in private messages instead if here, but I obviously have no authority here, and I'm not going to pretend I do.

Speculation is not necessary, the staff is aware of the issues the last two posts have raised.  If you know something beyond what has already been discussed here, feel free to PM a staff member.  Otherwise, please be patient.

@"Angeldark92" you have to login to IFDb separately from the forums (although it's the same login name/password).  If that doesn't work send me a PM.
