New He-Man Movie

wow, i just read about this 2 minutes ago on another site and made the comment -

I loved he-man as a child. I recently rewatched some episodes on DVD and it really hasnt aged well. Unlike other shows of the time like Thundercats, GIJoe and Transformers, He-Man was pretty lame.
I really dont see why they'd try to resurrect the character now when anyone old enough to remember it would be 25+ and any younger kids that never heard of it would probably not identify with it.

yeah He-man was never that good, the story just isn't very interesting, I love the Dolph Lundgren film but only because it's really cheesy and has a good soundtrack, I know it's not actually a 'good' film. However the idea of reimagining He-man is just pointless, it's a bad story but the people who are likely to go and see it want to see that bad story not a 're-imagined' bad story.

It's always funny looking back/revisiting something so well loved as a child only to find out that it was not what you thought at all.

I had (still have) the atari game "masters of the universe" and had shit tons of he-man action figures and shirts w/ he-man decals the whole 9. Most of the time I can look back on a show/movie with fondness but He-Man was just really, really bad. Prince Adam was most definitely gay and Skeletor is the most un-threatening cartoon villain I can remember due to his whiny voice. "I'll get youuu heeee maaan!"

you know... there was a short period in my life, you know, when the child slowly embrassed adolesence where i would have welcomed a hardcore porn with the name ´she-ra princess of power´ but a he-man remake is just lame...

:)

I loved the He-man cartoons when I was a child. Now, many years later, I have a different view of the show. It's indeed hard to keep focussing on the show while watching an episode.

However, I'm always interesting in seeing a movie version of it. Ofcourse the old movie is always there, but I will always watch a new real life movie version of it. Just curious how they will handle it. I'm also curious if they will include the villain Hordak.

Even though Hordak was always the most popular part of the She-Ra universe, surely they wouldn't marginalise Skeletor by bringing in someone else's villain?

Maybe for a sequel, but I doubt it'd happen for the 'first' film.

On the other hand, The Joker wasn't in Batman Begins, and Shredder wasn't in TMNT, so what do I know? ;)

True. Hordak is from the She-ra universe. But I always imagined a sequel to the Lundgren He-Man movie in which Skeletor is defeated (I know about the scene after the credits). I always imagined the sequal that everybody thought that Skeletor was dead, Hordak escapes from his imprisonment by Skeleton and becomes the main villain for the movie. Ofcourse He-Man defeats Hordak in the end and when they think everything is peace and calm again, Skeletor appears and declares his revenge on He-Man. Open ending and setup for a possible 3rd movie.

Yeah, but they'd have to be insane to bother making a true sequel to the Lundgren flick.

Start from scratch unless you want another bomb, I reckon. No Gwildor, no Earth, and no Tom Paris, Monica Geller, or Mr. Strickland. :)

It's not a sequel, and I've actually heard that a script that was made for the He-Man movie was supposedly amazing. It has the potential to be good if it were done in a LOTR/300 type of movie.
