I enjoyed the look of the original subtitles that the cinema showed for the elvish parts and locations etc. But every DVD release i have seen uses some plain low res subtitles instead of the original. Here is an image of the original subtitle.
It seems these got removed and replaced with some generic low res subtitle later. Looks just like the subtitles if you choose to use english subtitles for all parts.

Is it possible to buy a release that has the original look?

Edit: The DVDs I own are all region 2. Maybe a region 1 would have the proper ones?

First off, to answer the question directly: I don't know.

That said, you might be able to roll your own for this. Obtain the program Subtitle Edit. You will also need a program to rip your DVD to a video file; for example MakeMKV. You will also need a program to remix the new subtitles back into your video file, such as MKVToolNix.

1) Rip your legally owned DVD with MakeMKV.

2) Use Subtitle Edit to extract the subtitles from your MKV file.

3) Edit the subtitles as you like and save the subtitles to a SRT file.

4) Remux the MKV and your SRT file with MKVToolNix into a new MKV file.

You can then watch that, or there may be tools to burn it back to a DVD (haven't done that for years, so not sure what is current).

Hope I got all that right; hope this helps...
