I drew my friend's character for him. I'm working on an updated better picture of it.
He described the character as a suit if armour with a tux and a red scarf.

I love the designs the monsters in the original Scooby-Doo cartoons have.  So these costumes are just fantastic:

I started working on it before I was all that familiar with David Lynch, and even then I still haven't watched Twin Peaks, but yet I totally agree. It was just in general meant to be surreal and abstract. The project requirements were to take an organic shape and overlay geometric shapes over it, each shape and intersection with a different value to give the illusion of movement. I'm not sure I'm completely happy with the colors I used. I wanted a darker deeper red, but I couldn't find the right colored pencil. I still like the final product, I just wish I hadn't used orange.

Yeah, massive improvement. Next steps for you should be looking into/practicing proportion. How big the different body parts are/should be in relation to each other.

Keep it up, you'll amaze yourself.

It's wonderful!  I'll get around to the companion piece sometime next year...!

^ Thanks!
Looking forward to what you come up with.

Yes, I used black paper, white charcoal, and a white colored pencil for some of the less intense whites and grays. The right is just a photograph I used for reference.

Comic artist (and sometimes writer) George Perez has officially announced his retirement (I don't think he's had any published work in several years anyway, but still).
