Hi, I have a question about upscaling SD sources. Let's say I want to upscale a standard definition DVD that is letterboxed 2.35. After I'm done editing, I want the final render to maintain the original aspect ratio, but higher picture quality as possible.

How would you do this and do you think the PQ would compare favorably to commercial upscales that weren't transfers from new masters?

I'm working in Premiere Pro if that helps. Thanks!

I'd use AviSynth.  Start by trying NNEDI3.

Code:
nnedi3_rpow2(rfactor=2,cshift="spline36resize")
