Zamros said:Ok, need your guys thoughts here. If I've seen the trailer, do I have to see the film?
slekyr said:Would you recommend seeing it in the theater or waiting for video? Also how would you compare it with Jurassic World and the rest of the franchise?
TM2YC said:Yes and no. It's big-screen entertainment, nothing more. So while it's forgettable and inessential, the cinema is the place to see it, if you intend to. The practical Dino FX and CGI are very good and worth seeing on a large screen too.
TM2YC said:I'd liken it to JP3 in that it's fun yet very silly but with a plot structure similar to JP2, except not boring. It doesn't have any of the feels of JP1 or JW1.... although that could in part be down to the near total absence of the JP theme music.
TM2YC said:and of course make the *redacted* not a *redacted* because that was unnecessarily silly.
This is apparently everyone's biggest question.Gaith said:(Minor quibble: No, but, seriously... what about Isla Sorna/Site B? No, really?)
FTFYMy brother saw it and said it was terrible. My snarky reply was “you’re surprised? There hasn’t been a good Jurassic Park movie”
For me, the first one had the wonder and the science fiction in the first half. Then it shifted into monster movie mode and has, seemingly, never looked back (I can’t say for sure since I haven’t seen any of the latest movies). But I’m simply not interested in those types of monster movies. I don’t care for Godzilla or King King movies and things like Pacific Rim hold zero interest for me. For those that enjoy those types of movies these JW movies may be great. My comment to my brother was simply in jest.FTFY
On another note, my therapist told me about how he ended up walking out of the theater for this one. Sounds like a disaster.
Oh l got what you were saying, l was simply referencing my own dislike of the movies, which has become more of a joke by now.For me, the first one had the wonder and the science fiction in the first half. I saw some reviews compare it to Rise of Skywalker. I'm almost tempted to see it now..
Looking at dinosaur movies as a whole, and not solely this franchise - l can't imagine that a majority aren't dull.Fallen Kingdom was awful but so dumb it became entertaining in spite of itself. Dominion is shockingly dull for the most part. I didn't think it was possible for a dinosaur movie but like life, they found a way.
