Lossless Editing
#1
Hi all,

I have a very rudimentary understanding of what I need to do to edit blu-ray movies.  I would appreciate your help.

Up till now I've tried to rip using makemkv and not found software that is user friendly to edit the file.  Is there a way to rip and edit the source without losing any audio or video quality with user friendly software?

I was told on the Doom9 forums that there is no way to edit blu-rays lossless if I try avi files.

Thanks.

Hello and welcome Smile

I too have a rudimentary understanding, but Captain Khajiit and ThrowgnCprave created fantastic guides to answer your questions. Here are some great resources:

ThrowgnCpr's guide to prepping a HD edit in Vegas (ripping & converting from Blu-ray)

I also like to use MovieRescuer to rip my movies

I rip my blu rays and then follow the above guides to create lossless avi files and audio. It is possible.

My guide to decoding video and audio would be of more immediate use than my HCenc guide, though there is information in the latter that you might find useful.
