I just found this fan film today while messing around on youtube. Wow! This animation is fantastic as is the emotional narrative! I love the integration of the realistic cgi with the forest environment. 

I never could get into this game, but this short makes me want to reconsider playing it again. Maybe Nintendo will see this and pursue the idea of a feature film in the future.

 
I saw that a little while back. Absolutely stunning production.
