Animated Spider-Man (2018)

After The Lego Movie, I have a lot of faith in Lord and Miller, but this all just seems like part of Sony's desperate attempt to build a whole cinematic universe out of one character. The Venom movie may be back on now, so maybe the Sinister Six and Aunt May movies aren't far behind.

Hey, Sony! Your character's part of the MCU now. You don't have to try so hard.

Also, between this, the MIB / 21 Jump Street crossover (yes, that's actually a thing), the Young Han Solo movie, and The Lego Movie 2 (the latter two of which are both due out in 2018, the same year as the animated Spider-Man), I'm worried that Lord and Miller are going to be stretched too thin. That's what happened to Brian Michael Bendis; he was turning out amazing stuff until he had to write 47 comic books a month. Now everything recent I've read from him seems like a good idea buried in a rough first draft.

Having said all that, if the end product looks really good, I'll keep an open mind.

I like Bendis in small doses...his Iron Man run at the moment is pretty fantastic. Wasn't so much a fan of his X-Men stint, but it was nowhere near as bad as his lengthy Avengers run.

I hope they're not stretched too thin too, Lego Movie was a gem, but now that it's going to be a leading franchise, there's a danger it'll fall victom to the usual executive meddling who want a lot more commercialism...and it's already bad enough it's already a commercial property.
