My first attempt at a TV-to-Movie edit. And I chose an ABC production, oh what a fool I am, their credits are a nightmare!!!

The Agents Of SHIELD tv show struggled to figure out what it was at the beginning. Was it episodic or serial? Was it whimsical or serious? Was it keeping up with the MCU or not?

This is an attempt to trim the fat off the show, and is the first in a trilogy of films that will cover season 1.

Concentrating on the Centipede storyline this edit incorporates four episodes from the opening eleven, and shows a couple of scenes from two others. The thrust of the film is Coulson coming to terms with being brought back from the brink of death, and the Centipede program.

Episode List
Pilot
Trims across the board, some rearranging of sequences, and the introduction to the team altered slightly.

Girl In The Flower Dress
More trims, some superfluous scenes omitted.

The Bridge
Those trims again, and some scenes omitted.

The Magical Place
Anything that wasn't Coulson was removed, until the team turn up to rescue him.

The Hub and The Well
Took a scene from each that centred on Coulson and his return from the dead.

Synopsis
Agent Phil Coulson, having survived his apparent death before the battle of New York, has a nightmare about his recuperation in Tahiti.

He assembles a team of agents (Melinda May, Grant Ward, Leo Fitz, and Jemma Simmons) to investigate superhumans and other related phenomena, which are now public knowledge. Their first assignment involves Mike Peterson, who was supplied with an extremis-containing serum by Project Centipede.

Skye, a hactivist who saw Peterson in action, warns him about S.H.I.E.L.D. and offers to help him, but he declines.

While visiting the scene where Peterson rescued a woman from a burning building, the team learns that the fire was caused by another subject exploding due to the Extremis.

Skye is kidnapped by Peterson, who is now on the run and makes her erase all his personal information.

Coulson's team is able to track them down and subdue Peterson, taking him into S.H.I.E.L.D. custody.

Viewing Skye as an asset, Coulson offers her a place on his team.

Coulson is denied access to information about his recuperation in Tahiti, despite his Level 8 clearance.

The team attempts to find Chan Ho Yin, a Chinese street performer with pyrokinetic abilities, after he is kidnapped by Project Centipede recruiter Raina. Raina injects him with Extremis to increase his power, before harvesting his blood platelets for further experimentation.

Skye knows a hacker who could have released the information on Chan’s location and abilities, and secretly sleeps with him, trying to discover the truth. May finds them and, not trusting Skye, arrests them.

S.H.I.E.L.D. attacks the Centipede facility, and attempts to help Chan, but he refuses and May activates the unstable Extremis within him to kill him.

Coulson recruits Peterson to his team for super soldier support when Edison Po, a dangerous criminal with ties to Raina, is sprung from prison by upgraded Centipede super soldiers. Coulson's team traces a Centipede-powered soldier to an abandoned factory and are ambushed by a squad of super soldiers.

When Peterson contacts his son, he learns that he has been kidnapped by Centipede, who suggest a trade – Peterson for Ace.

Coulson escorts Peterson to the arranged exchange, where Peterson reveals that Centipede want Coulson, not Peterson. Coulson, agrees to be taken prisoner. After the exchange, Peterson attempts to rescue Coulson, but is apparently killed in an explosion.

Raina tells Coulson that they want to know how he was resurrected. Centipede tortures Coulson to learn the secret of his resurrection.

After the Clairvoyant, the mysterious mastermind behind the Centipede program, kills Po, Raina takes over Coulson's interrogation. She uses a scanning device to compel him to remember aspects of his being brought back to life.

Coulson experiences flashbacks about an operation on his brain just before being rescued by the team. Raina is arrested by S.H.I.E.L.D.

After his rescue he confronts Dr. Streiten, who tells Coulson he had been dead days, and was resurrected at the orders of Director Fury.

Mid credits scene
It is later revealed that Peterson is alive, albeit badly burned, missing the lower half of his right leg, with an explosive surveillance eye implanted in him by someone working for the Clairvoyant.

Running time is 1h 54m. It is pretty much done, just waiting on some feedback as I have a play around with the middle film of the trilogy.

Artwork and, maybe, a trailer to follow soon.

Ooh! As someone who belatedly started watching Agents of SHIELD but now is totally into it, consider me very interested in this edit.

I enjoy AoS as it is now but dear god that first season was awful! Hopefully you can salvage it into something watchable  :D

I don't watch it half as much as I used to, but I would love to see how you handle making sense of that first season

As someone who really enjoyed the second season and adores the current season, looking back on the first it wasn't god awful or unwatchable to me, it just seems slow and tedious in the first half. I wasn't as excited or invested until Bill Paxton came in, so I'm definitely interested in this project :)

Very nicely done trailer!

The stuff with Mike Peterson and TAHITI were definitely the best things about the first 2/3rds of Season 1. That seems like a good starting place (which is what you've done).

Are you going to be using any scenes from "I Spy," which has the other agent with the camera in her eye, to set up the end-credits moment with Peterson? It would be a nice touch, but it is a lot of extra information to include, so if you skipped it, I could see why.

And not to get too far ahead of ourselves, but are you planning to make the second movie about Agent Ward's betrayal?

Thanks.

Regarding the eye...
I haven't used any of I Spy. As you say, there was a lot of plot in there that wasn't needed for this story. The eye camera is seen and demonstrated (or at least alluded to) in The Bridge, so I've kept this in so that the audience should be able to piece together what has happened to Peterson.

Regarding future films...
And without getting too far ahead, the second one has the provisional title of Clairvoyant, and will end with the defeat of Hydra and the revelation of who the Clairvoyant is, with the final scene being the whammy with Ward, leading to the third film (provisionally called Deathlock) about the fallout of SHIELD's collapse and Ward's betrayal.

Clairvoyant is beginning to take shape while I finalise the delivery of Centipede.

Looking good! I also love the fact that you're incorporating post-credits scenes! It really will feel like a Marvel flick! Will these films be cropped or are you leaving them in their original aspect ratio?

Wow. What a dark Empire Strikes Back-like cliffhanger for the second movie! I love it!

I also like your handling of the eye situation.

Thanks. I did consider cropping, maybe not a full 2.35, but a 2.1, for the primary reason of credit removal. But I managed to work around the credits (or mask them) without the need, and some framed scenes would be compromised. So I kept it as is. Ant-Man and the first Avengers are 1.85, so I don't feel like it looks less of a movie.

Saying that, I won't rule it out for the next features.

After ManicGuy1989's question regarding aspect ratio, I thought I'd have another look at the idea. And then I also found a Film Grain filter in FCP that didn't require too much effort to apply.

I can't deny that the image looks more filmic when cropped and graded, but does it look better, and does it make sense to remove screen real estate that is perfectly fine.

Do the honourable members of the forum have any thoughts on the matter?

Nice job there! I actually like the warmer grading a lot more, as well as the film grain addition. A quick suggestion? Maybe do a slight teal and orange grade just to match the rest of the MCU, unless you've already done or are working on one and I'm just color blind lol.

I really like the grade and crop. It will take some care (first example could be tweaked) but it looks great and I think will be worth the effort.

I agree that it is an improvement. It looks really good. And yeah... Be careful with the cropping. You're going to make sure every shot is paid close attention to so nothing ends up out of frame you need.

Personally I think the grade and crop looks great! Could be a lot of work for you though, making sure everything is still framed nicely, but if you're willing to do the work I recon it could really pay off big time! Keep it up, brother!

Thanks, I can't really take the credit, it is a pre loaded filter in the software. Regarding the teal/orange, the filter doesn't seem to have much in the way of options, but I might have a play with some colours after the filter is applied. I'll be treading very softly though, I am decidedly amateur when it comes to colour correction (I think I got lucky with my Pirates edit).

Same brother, but I could post some images with my go for the teal/orange for a guide?
